Bears throttle Cowboys, dog and over cashes

The Bears dominated both sides of the ball to easily whip Dallas 34-18 on Monday Night Football. Jay Cutler had a mistake-free 18-24 night for 275 yards and two touchdowns. The Bear defense intercepted Tony Romo five times including two pick sixes as Chicago won wire-to-wire. The game was not as close the score as Kyle Orton led the Pokes to a touchdown in the final 30 seconds during mop up duty. The Bears improved to 3-1 and travel to Jacksonville next week. The Cowboys fell to 2-2 and travel to Baltimore Sunday for a game with the Ravens.

Colts HC Pagano diagnosed wit leukemia

Indianapolis Colts HC Chuck Pagano has been diagnosed with a acute myeloid leukemia, where the bone marrow is producing abnormal white blood cells that interfere with healthy blood cells. Symptoms can include weakness, weight loss and easy bruising or bleeding. Treatments can include chemotherapy, drugs and radiation therapy. The disease is treatable and Pagano will be hospitalized for the next 6-8 weeks as he begins treatment. Bruce Arians will serve as the Colts interim coach. Nats and Tigers clinch division, A’s lock up wildcard

Monday in the MLB, the Washington Nationals and Detroit Tigers locked up divisional titles while the Oakland A’s wrapped up the AL’s second and final wild card berth. While the Nats were being shut out 2-0 by Philadelphia, the Braves were losing 2-1 at Pittsburg giving the NL East to Washington. Detroit wrapped the AL Central with a 6-3 win at Kansas City. Oakland clinched a wild card with a 4-3 win over Texas and trail the Rangers by just one game with two left to play. St Louis clinched at least a tie for a wild card spot with their win over Cincinnati. The Dodgers are on a respirator but still alive after a 3-2 walk off win over the Giants.

Cabrera hits 44th homer, leads all Triple Crown catagories

We could have our first Triple Crown winner since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967. Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera went four-for-five with a homer in the Tigers 6-3 win at Kansas City and now leads in all three Triple Crown catagories. Cabrera is hitting .329, four points better than Angel rookie Mike Trout. Cabrera leads the Ranger’s Josh Hamilton in homers 44-43 and in RBIs 137-127. If Cabrera and Hamilton tie for homers, the Motown third-baseman will still win the Triple Crown.

Bama loses key WR and RB to ACL injuries

The Alabama might be the unanimous No.1 in the AP poll but the Crimson Tide took a big hit on the offensive side of the ball losing two key skill position people to ACL injuries. According to Nick Saban’s presser on Monday, tailback Dee Hart and WR DeAndrew White will both miss the rest of the season with knee injuries. Neither Hart or White were starters but both were key backups in what was arguable the deepest backfield and wide-receiving corps in college football.

Bulls give Thibodeau a four-year extension

The Chicago Bulls have locked head coach Tom Thibodeau with a four-year extension worth $17.5 million that could swell to over $20 million with bonuses. Thibodeau was considered one of the NBA’s top defensive coaches when he came over from the Boston Celtics and won 2010-11 NBA Coach of the Year honors in his first of two years coaching the Bulls.

The NHL and Players resume talks

After taking a day off, the NHL and NHLPA will resumes talks today to discuss the all important definition of what exactly is hockey-related revenue. As it stands, there are exemptions on the total revenue that don’t go to HRR. So owners get some of the pie before splitting it with the players. It’s why the NHLPA continues to say a 50/50 split on HRR isn’t really 50/50; the owners have a lot of money that is exempted from the HRR. The NHLPA naturally wants to see fewer exemptions in HRR because that’s less money they can get. At the same time, if there were more money in the pot, the players would likely be willing to take a lower share of it.
