Orb and Oxbow head today’s Belmont Stakes field
With rain forecasted throughout the day throughout the day in the NYC area, it looks like the track will be either off or sloppy in this afternoon’s running of the Belmont Stakes. Fourteen horse will go to post including Kentucky Derby winner Orb and Preakness winner Oxbow. The Kentucky derby winner and the Preakness winner have met seven times in the last 20 years with the Preakness winner first across the line six times. That said …..
Sportsbetting3’s fearless Belmont pick is Orb. The Shug McGughey trainee had all kinds of excuses in Baltimore ultimately checking twice in traffic and never getting the opportunity to roll in the stretch. Today he will get a similar trip to what he received in the Derby and traffic should not be a factor here. We’ll use our Kentucky Derby selection Revolutionary for second. This Pletcher trainee had no excuses in the Derby given a perfect ground saving trip by Calvin Borel to finish third. He had a clear run home and hung a bit indicating he was tired or just did nt like the track. He’ll be better here with the extra rest. We’ll use Oxbow for third and Golden Soul from the far outside to complete your superfecta.
Good Luck on today’s race and don’t forget to check out SP3’s world class sponsors for special H2H props and brand new sign up and reload bonuses available as a promotion for this race.
Bruins in Final after taking broom to the Pens
The Boston Bruins have punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final with a four game sweep of the Pittsburg Penguins. Adam McQuaid’s slapper at 5:01 of the third was the only goal in the Bruin’s 1-0 win. The key to the series was a suffocating Bruin defense and big play between the pipes by Tukka Rask who allowed Pittsburg just two goals in the entire series. Pen starts Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin were held scoreless in the series.
The Chicago Blackhawks can make it an original six final with a win today over the Kings at the United Center. Chicago is a -200 home ice favorite. The over is set at 4 1/2 with the over tilted 35 cents to the over.
Puig continues white-hot MLB start
He’s got the skills of Mike trout in the body of a young Jose Canseco. Dodger phenom Yasiel Puig became the first player in MLB history to homer four times in his first five games as the Bums beat the Braves 2-1 on a walk-off wild pitch in the 10th inning. Los Angles has won four of five since call up the Cuban defector on Monday.
Serena stops Maria for French title, Nadal/Ferrar on Sunday
Serena Williams continued her domination of Maria Sharapova winning the woman’s singles title at the French open in straight sets. Williams, a 6-4, 6-4 winner became the first American won to win in Paris since Serena won at Roland Garros in 2002. It was Serena’s 13th straight win over Sharapova. Rafa Nada looks to become the first player to win a major eight time when he takes on David Ferrar in Sunday’s Men’s Final.
Evans goal in injury time puts US closer to the World Cup
The US Men’s soccer team took a step closer to qualifying for the 2014 World Cup with an unlikely 2-1 win over Jamaica. The US appeared in control for most of the game after Jozy Altidore opened the scoring with a header in the 30th minute. Jamaica got their equalizer on a set piece in the 89th minute thanks to another lapse by the US defense. In the second minute of injury time, Brad Evans got the ball in the box and sent a spinning right foot into the top corner of the Rasta goal for the win. The Americans, Costa Rica and Mexico lead the Concacaf Group with seven points with the US and Ticos having a game in hand.
Tiger, Rory and Adam Scott are US Open trifecta
This week’s US Open just got a little juicier after the USGA announced the opening round pairings. Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott will tee off on Thursday at 1:14 p.m. from tee No. 1 and then at 7:44 a.m. on Friday from tee No. 11. This will be the first time Woods an McIlroy will have played together at a major. Scott’s caddie Steve Williams was on Tiger’s bag during his glory years before the scandal. Why not throw in Sergio Garcia for a foursome ???
Bears work out JaMarcus Russell, no deal likely
Former No.1 overall draft pick JaMarcus Russell worked out for the Chicago Bears yesterday and while his performance was solid, he will likely not be offered a deal. Russell has shed some 50+ pounds over the past six months to get to his former playing weight of 265. Russell showed good arm strength but was a little rusty on timing patterns throwing to unfamiliar wide receivers.
