Miami -2 at Indiana in tonight’s Game Six, no Birdman
Miami Heat power forward Chris “Birdman” Anderson has been suspended by the league for tonight’s Game VI with Indianapolis for an altercation with the Pacer’s Tyler Hansbrough in Game V. Anderson hip-checked Hansbrough to the ground after a basket and then got into a pushing and shoving match with the Pacer energy guy. Anderson was given a Flagrant One for the play and both players received technical fouls for the pushing. The league upgraded the foul to a Flagrant Two after review. Anderson was not ejected but will be forced to ride the pine tonight. Anderson is averaging 7-points and 5-bounds a game for the Heat and is 15-for-15 from the field. He also gives the Heat much needed height and length and a major defensive presence in the paint.
On the court, the Heat are -2/2.5 point favorites in the game with the high/low set at 183. Keys for tonight’s game will be Miami’s ability to deal with the Pacer big men without Anderson. The Pacers will need to get scoring from players not named West, Hibbert and George who accounted for all but five Indiana FGs in Game Five.
MLB News and Notes
There were several great individual efforts last night in the MLB …..
Johnny Cueto tossed eight-innings of one-hit ball as the Cincinnati Reds blanked Pittsburg 6-0.
Jonathon Lucroy went five-for-five with two homers and four RBIs as the Brewers snapped a season high six-game losing streak with an 8-5 over the Phillies.
C.C. Sabathia who had been battling dead arm issues hit 94 on the juggs gun in striking out 10 and getting into the eighth inning in the Yankees 4-1 win over the Red Sox.
In a game that battled through five hours of rain delays, four Tampa Bay pitchers combined to one-hit the Indians in a 9-2 Rays win. The final out was recorded at 2:53 AM EST.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Oakland’s Bartolo Colon pitched a complete game five-hitter in the A’s 3-0 blanking of the White Sox. The game was played in a nifty 2 hours and 14 minutes.
Both NHL Conference finals start tonight
The NHL returns tonight with both conference final opening games. The Kings and Blackhawks get things going in the West with a 5:05 PM EST matinee. Chicago opened at -155 and is now -165 while the over/under is five flat with the under shaded a whopping 50 cents. In the East, the puck drops at 8:00 PM EST at the Igloo with Pittsburg a -180 favorite over Boston. The total is 5 1/2 with the under 20 cents in what looks at face to be a high scoring series.
