Chiefs/Chargers, VTech/Miami Fla highlight Thursday Betting Card
Week Nine of the NFL kicks off with a classic rivalry from the old AFL as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium in Sand Diego. The Bolts opened as nine point favorites but are now a consensus eight-point favorite across the board. The total opened at 44 and has headed south down to its current 42 1/2. Matt Cassel will quarterback Kansas City with Brady Quinn out with a concussion. Weather will not be a factor as it will be mostly cloudy and 63 at game time. San Diego spanked Kansas City 37-20 at Arrowhead back on September 30th in a game that saw the Chiefs turn the ball over six times. The Chargers have scored just two second half touchdowns in their last five games. Kansas City has not led a game in regulation this year. The Chiefs are 2-7 straight up over the last nine in the series and have lost four straight here but AFC West road teams are 5-1 ATS in divisional matchups this year.
In tonight’s ACC college football matchup, underachieving Virginia Tech visits the Miami Hurricanes. The Gobblers have lost three of their last four but are 17-9-1 in their L27 as road favorites, 0-2 this year. The Canes have lost three straight avgg 12.3 ppg but are 7-3 as a dog under Golden. Miami allowed 32-36-37 in their three wins over I-A opponents. Miami will be honoring former head coach Jimmy Johnson before the game. Weather is not an issue and temperature at game time will be around 75.

Former Penn State assistant and convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky will be transferred to Greene State Prison outside of Harrisburg where he we jailed alone in protective custody. Greene is a maximum security facility that also hoses most of Pennsylvania’s death row inmates.
London’s mayor Boris Johnson has a vacant Olympic Stadium and is exploring options of attracting an NFL team or having more games played in the british capital. This comes just days after 80,000 fans saw the new England Patriots wax the Rams 45-7 at Wembley. The two games scheduled for next season are also set to be played at Wembley, and the NFL has a contract with Wembley through 2016.
Knicks/Nets opener at the Barclays Center cancelled
SP3 mispoke in it’s Wednesday recap when it reported that the Brooklyn Nets home opener vs the Knicks at the brand new Barclays Center would go on as scheduled. Early yesterday, there was every indication from the league that it would. Late Wednesday, the league postponed the game due to the damage and flooding caused by Super Storm Sandy. With the streets filled with debris and the subways still not functioning, it would have been nearly impossible for anyone from Manhattan to get to the game. Regrettable but completely understandable.
