Jim Leyland steps down as manager of the Detroit Tigers

Jim Leyland will step down as manager of the Tiger’s after the team was ousted in the ALCS by Boston. Leyland, 68, will remain with the team in a yet to be determined capacity. Leyland had this to say …..

“It’s time. It’s time to step down. The fuel was starting to get low … I want to retire a Tiger. I’m just not in the dugout anymore.”

McMurray wins at Talladega, JJ takes over lead in The Chase

Jamie McMurray snapped a 108-race winless streak winning for the first time since 2010 by taking the checkered flag Sunday at Talladega. Dale Earnhardt Jr finished second with Ricky Stenhouse, Paul Menard and Kyle Busch rounding out the top five. Jimmie Johnson finished 13th but it was good enough to take a four point lead in The Chase over Matt Kenseth who finished 20th.

Webb Simpson cruises to easy win in Vegas

Webb Simpson was much the best at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas winning by six shots over Ryo Ishakawa and Jason Bohn. UNLV product Charlie Hoffman was another shit back. This year was the first year that the last year Vegas event carried Fed Ex points and the purse exceeded $6 million. Simpson pocketed $1,080,000 for the win.
