Giants beat Vikes ugly, Miami Fla avoids Bowl ban, World Series umpire crew announced, Manziel probable vs Vandy, NBA starts in a week + Monday recap: Tuesday, October 22, 2013
Giants beat Vikes 23-7 for first win
In as ugly a game as you will ever see, the NY Giants beat Minnesota 23-7 for their first win of the year. Eli Manning was 23-39 for 200 yards and a score and most importantly no interceptions. Josh Brown kicked three field goals for the winners. The Viking looked inept throughout and new quarterback Josh Freeman was 20-53 for 190 and a pick. Freeman was clearly lost and wasn’t ready to start. Adrian Peterson had 13 carries for 28 yards. Minnesota’s lone points came on an 86-yard punt return. Favorite and under players cashed their tickets.
Miami Fla punishment handed down
The Miami Hurricanes waited 1100 day for the axe to fall but thanks to self imposed penalties in the interim, barely got a slap on the wrist for their rogue booster scandal. The Canes (who sat out Bowls and an ACC championship game the last two years) will lose nine total scholarships but can participate in the ACC championship game (if they qualify) and a Bowl. The Canes are currently unbeaten and ranked N0.7 in the BCS standings. Read about the Cane scandal and the punishment handed down by clicking here.
