Spurs can’t seal the deal late, cold blooded Ray Allen trey
In arguably one of the greatest NBA playoff games of all time, the Miami Heat beat the San Antonio Spurs 103-100 in overtime to force a seventh and deciding game in the NBA finals. San Antonio led 71-58 in the third, by 10 at the end of three quarters and by five with 23 seconds to play. Ray Allen’s three point jumper with 5.2 seconds left forced the extra five minutes. Lebron James scored 18 of his 32 points (32/10/11) in the 4th quarter and overtime while Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 30 and 17 in defeat. Boston is a -135 favorite over Chicago in Game IV
The Boston Bruins are home ice favorites in tonight’s Game IV of the Stanley Cup finals. Boston leads the series 2-1 off Monday’s dominating 2-0 shutout win at TD Arena. The Bruins are 11-2 in 13 games since coming back from 4-1 down in Game 7 of the Toronto series. They are 8-2 in the playoffs on home ice this year allowing just seven goals in the wins. The Blackhawks are 8-3 since trailing Detroit 3-1. Chicago has allowed three goals or less in 13 straight games. The Hawks have failed to score on their last 20 power plays and are 0-11 with the man advantage in this series.
MLB News and Notes
The New York Mets young guns were dominant in the Mets double-header sweep of the Atlanta Braves. Matt Harvey improved to 6-1 after New York won 4-3 in the opener. Highly touted Zack Wheeler made his MLB debut a winning one by throwing six shutout innings in the Mets 6-1 win in the nightcap.
The Nat’s Bryce Harper has been cleared to resume baseball activities and test his injured left knee. Harper took a cortisone shot and had a platelet rich plasma injection last week. Harper has not played since crashing into a wall trying to run down a fly ball back on May 26th.
US beats Honduras 1-0 to put stranglehold on Brazil
Jozy Altidore scored in his fourth straight international match and the US Men’s National soccer time won in Concacaf for the third time in June beating Honduras 1-0 Tuesday in Sandy, Utah. The US now leads the regional hexagon with a 4-1-1 record and has virtually guaranteed itself a spot in the 2014 World Cup. The Americans dominated most of the game but couldn’t break through until the 73rd minute when Altidore connected on a slick pass from Fabian Johnson.
Pat TE Hernandez questioned in homicide
New England Patriot TE Aaron Hernandez has been questioned by police and his house has been searched as part of a homicide probe in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. Reports state that Hernandez has been uncooperative with law enforcement and has not been ruled out as a suspect. The probe involves the death of a 27-year-old Boston man who was found dead by a jogger less than a mile from the house. The victim’s rented SUV is tied to Hernandez.
