Knicks pound Pacers, Grizz stop Thunder
The Knicks and Grizzlies got wins in Tuesday NBA playoff action to even their conference playoff semis at 1-1. The Knicks used a 30-2 run in the second half to put away Indiana 105-79 and avoid getting swept at home. Carmelo led the winners with 32 points and 9 boards. At Oklahoma City, Memphis used a 30-19 final quarter to get a 99-93 road win against the Thunder. Mike Conley just missed a triple-double with a 26-10-9 game line for the winners. Marc Gasol added 24 points for the winners. Kevin Durant had 36 in a losing effort.

Bulls/Heat, Warrior/Spurs Game IIs tonight
Both other semi-final series play their Game IIs tonight as the never-say-die Bulls look for an improbable sweep at Miami and the Warriors look to bounce back from Monday’s opening game meltdown. The defending champion Heat are -12.5 with the high/low 187. Chicago will be without Luol Deng and Kirk Heinrich. The Heat have lost four times since January 15th, twice to the Bulls. In the late game, Golden State catches 7 points from the Spurs with the over/under 205. The Warriors gave away Game I by blowing a 16-point point lead in the final three minutes before falling in double overtime. Golden State has lost 30 straight at San Antonio, their last win coming on February 14th, 1997.
This just in, George Karl of the Denver Nuggets has been named the NBA Coach of the Year.
Sharks sweep Canucks, Islanders win to get to 2-2
The San Jose Sharks are the first team to move on in the NHL playoffs after their 4-3 overtime win over Vancouver completed a 4-0 sweep of the Vancouver Canucks. Patrick Marleau got the winner 13;18 into extra time. Ottawa and Chicago took commanding 3-1 series leads with wins on Tuesday. Kyle Turris hit the back of the net at 2:32 of Ot to give the Senators their win. Corey Crawford stopped 25 shots in the Blackhawks 3-0 whitewash of Minnesota. The Islander beat Pittsburg 6-4 at the Nassau Coliseum to draw even in their series with the Pens. Defenseman Mark Streit had two goals and an assist for the Islander.
In tonight’s NHL playoff action, Boston is a -135 road favorite at Toronto. The Bruins lead the series 2-1. The Rangers, down 2-1, are -140 over the Caps at Madison Square Garden. St Louis is -130 at home over the Kings, that series is tied at two games apiece. In the night’s finale, Anaheim is -145 at the Pond over Detroit. The Wings have two overtime wins in the 2-2 series.

Toronto Blue Jay pitcher Jay Happ is in stable condition and expected to be released from the hospital this moring after being hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Tampa Bay’s Desmond Jennings. For those that are not faint of heart, you can watch the clip by clicking here.
The New York Met’s Matt Harvey pitched nine innings of one-hit ball in the Mets 1-0 extra-inning win over the Chicago White Sox. Harvey struck out 12 in getting a no-decision. Mike Baxter had a pinch-hit walk off single for the winners.
Troubled former Lions WR Titus Young arrested twice in one day
Ex-Lion Titus Young was arrested twice in suburban Detroit yesterday over the space of 15 hours. He was arrested the first time a little after midnight on suspicion of DUI. He was arrested and charged with burglary 15 hours later after trying to retrieve his Mustang from the towing company that impounded it after his first arrest.
Ferguson to step down at season’s end
Legendary Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson will step down after 26 seasons with the club. ince taking charge at Old Trafford in 1986, Ferguson has won a total of 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League championships, two Champions League titles and five FA Cups. The 71-year-old Ferguson will remain with the club in the capacity of director and ambassador.
