Louisville boatraces Gators to win the Sugar Bowl
Oregon vs Kansas State tonight in the Sugar Bowl
In tonight’s Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the Oregon Ducks are eight-point favorites over Kansas State. The high/low has dropped from the opening number off 77 to 74. The Quack Attack is 3-2 in it’s L5 Bowls, scoring 42+ in the wins and 19 and 17 in the two losses. The Ducks are much healthier now than they were at the end of the season but it is tough to guage how the team will react to the rumors that head coach Chip Kelly will be on the first plane out to the NFL. Kansas State has covered 11 of their L13 as a dog. The dog has covered five of the L6 Fiesta Bowls. The Wildcats will feature a senior quarterback and Heisman runner-up Colin Klein against Duck red-shirt freshman Marcus Mariota.
NFL News and Notes
Peyton Manning tied yet another NFL record Thursday when he won his sixth career Offensive Player of the Month award. Kurt Warner is the other. Manning completed 123 of 174 passes (70.7 percent) for 1,399 yards with 11 touchdowns with three interceptions and a 108.4 passer rating in December leading the Broncos to five wins.
Frustrated Cowboy owner Jerry Jones said on his weekly radio show that big changes were in the works. Jones said on KRLD-FM on Wednesday morning, “I can assure our fans this, that it’s going to be very uncomfortable from my standpoint, it’s going to be very uncomfortable for the next few weeks and months at Valley Ranch.”
Kevin Durant gets first career ejection
It wasn’t a good night for the Durantula who was ejected for the first time in his career after getting T’d up twice in the Thunder’s 110-93 home loss to the Nets. With OKC down 16 with 1:57 to play Durant took exception to an offensive foul call that earned him his first technical. Durant continued to jaw to Danny Crawford and was shown the door. On the floor, Durant led the Thunder with a 27-5-5 game line. Joe Johnson led Brooklyn with 33-5-3 while Brook Lopez chipped in with 25 points and five boards.
Boeheim pass Knight to move to second on all time wins list
The Syracuse Orangemen crushed Rutgers 78-53 on Wednesday giving head coach Jim Boeheim win No.903 to move into second place on college basketball’s all-time win list passing Bobby Knight. While Boeheim in unlikely to catch Mike Krzyzewski at the top, his 903 wins at one school will go unchallenged forever. Syracuse ended the first half on a 21-0 run to break open a close game. Brandon Triche led the Orange with 25 points. Eli Carter had 19 for the Scarlet Knights who saw their five-game win streak end.
