The Orioles Chris Davis hit two more homers as Baltimore bombed the Yankees 11-3 at Camden Yards. Davis is now just the eighth player in MLB history to go yard 30 times before July 1st. Davis is now hitting .333 with 30 bombs and 79 RBIs.
Pittsburg won their 8th straight game and became the first team to 50 wins after their 2-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. At 50-30, the Pirates have the best record in baseball after suffering through 20 straight losing seasons.
Cincinnati Red fireballer Johnny Cueto has been put on the DL for the third time in 2013 with a lat injury. Cueto didn’t get out of the second inning of his start on Friday. Cueto is 4-2 with a 3.30 ERA in nine starts this season.
Pats void final $6 million of Hernandez’s guaranteed money
The Boston Glode is reporting that the New England Patriots will void the final $6 million guaranteed money on the contract of TE Aaron Hernandez. The Patriots gave Hernandez a five-year $40 million dollar deal ten months ago with $16 million guaranteed. $10 million of that has already been paid and the team is looking into possible recourse on getting some of that back.
The victim that Hernandez is charged with killing was buried yesterday win South Boston. Hundreds of friends and family attended the funeral of Odin Lloyd who was shot execution style on June 17th.
Chris Paul will re-up with the Clippers
Free agency begins at midnight tonight but one player that will not be shopping his goods is Clipper point guard Chris Paul. The reps for CP3 said that Paul will remain with the Clips with a max contract. This was pretty much a done deal after Los Angeles was able to lure new HC Doc Rivers away from the Celtics.
Dwight Howard to visit five teams testing free agency
Dwight Howard will start making the rounds as he tests the water of free agency. Reports have Howard visiting Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Golden State and the Lakers. Howard, 27, averaged 17.1 points and 12.4 rebounds last season with the Lakers, a season in which he was recovering from back surgery.
Pens and Letang close to a $58 million dollar extension
Pittsburg Penguin and defenseman Kris Letang are close to an eight-year $58 million dollar extension. The deal includes a partial no-trade clause that includes right of refusal to 15 teams. Letang has one more year on his current deal at $3.5 million.
Nascar rained out in Kentucky, try again today
Last night’s Quaker State 400 Nascar race at Kentucky Motor Speedway was rained out and has been rescheduled for today. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is on the pole.
LPGA player fires caddie mid-round and shoots five-under back nine
It wasn’t going well for Jessica Korda at the Women’s US Open and after an argument with her caddie, fired him on the spot and put her boyfriend on her bag. The shakeup worked for Korda who shot five-under the rest of the way. Jessica Korda is the daughter of former tennis pro Petr Korda.
