NFL Betting: 2009 Week 1 Matchups you can’t miss
Our last post was a brief overview of the NFL preseason lineup, so we figured it’s high time to talk about Week 1 of the Regular season, which starts Thursday, September 10, 2009. Remember, pre-season play is usually not as serious as regular season action. Many times, coaches experiment with the second string, work their special teams, and allow rookies some playing time until the regular season begins. And, most importantly, the pre-season doesn’t count towards qualifying for the play-offs.
What are our favorite matchups for Week 1 NFL Betting?
Tennessee Titans @ Pittsburgh Steelers, Thursday September 10 – This is the regular season opener. It will be interesting to see what the Steelers have going for them, coming off an exhilarating Super Bowl win just a few months ago. Sportsbetting3.com likes Pittsburgh for the win in this matchup. Look for the Steelers to start the season off right with a solid win.
San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals, Sunday September 13 – The Cardinals will begin their season at the University of Phoenix stadium with a routine game against the 49ers. Much like the Steelers/Titans game, it will be interesting to see who ends up playing for the Cardinals and in what capacity. Even though they were the Super Bowl runner-up, we still like them for an easy win against the 49ers.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Baltimore Ravens, Sunday September 13 – The Ravens will face some noteworthy competition against the Chiefs on their season opener. All things considered, however, one has to remember the Ravens’ performance last season, making the play-offs in the AFC’s wild card contest. Sportsbetting3.com predicts they will emerge victories against the Chiefs, but they certainly can’t be overly confident at this point – anything can happen.
Other important Week 1 notes: Fox and CBS will be covering most of the games. Depending on your geographical location, you will be subject to some limitations since the contests are simulcast. Our advice: head over to your best bud’s house who has split screen TV and enjoy a 6 pack and Doritos. All the action starts at 1:00 PM.
Monday night football for week 1 of the 2009-10 season will be covered by ESPN. As if Sunday wasn’t enough, football addicts can catch 2 more games back-to-back starting at 7:00 PM on ESPN.
