FCS Bison drop K State 24-21 in Manhattan
Kansas State is the defending Big 12 champion. That didn’t mean much to two-time defending FCS champ North Dakota State who took down their fourth straight major conference opponent. Bison QB Brock Jensen scored on a keeper with 28 seconds to play to give North Dakota State the win. Even playing home at the Little Apple, Kansas State didn’t take NDSU lightly as the Bisons own wins over Kansas, Minnesota and Colorado State since 2010.
MLB News and Notes
The Pittsburg Pirates blanked St Louis 5-0 on Friday to grab a share of the lead in the NL Central. Garrett Jones and Russell Martin homered for the Bucs as Francisco Liriano and Mark Melancon combined on a four-hitter.
Kurt Suzuki’s three-run homer in the fifth inning held up the rest of the way as the Oakland A’s climbed to within two games of the Texas Rangers in the battle for the AL West.
Yu Darvish flirted with a no-hitter yet again taking a no-no into the seventh vs. Minnesota but a Chris Herrmann broke the ice with a two-run homer and Justin Morneau followed with a two run shot to make the Twins 3-2 winners.
