Georgetown and Miami lose as more ranked teams fall
Ranked teams continue to fall like flies. On Tuesday it was No.2 Indiana getting beat at home on senior night by Ohio State. Last night, Georgetown saw it’s 11-game winning streak snapped with a 67-57 loss at Villanova and No.6 Miami saw a possible top-seed go bye bye with a 71-69 buzzer beater home loss to Georgia Tech. The night’s big winner was Villanova which became the first team in NCAA history to record three home wins vs opponents ranked in the top five. For the Hurricanes, it was their third loss to a team outside the RPI top 100. In this crazy year of upsets Georgetown and Miami became the 20th and 21st top-ten ranked victims of teams ranked outside the AP Top 25.

NBA News and Notes
Lebron James drive to the hoop with 3.2 second left on the clock sent the Miami Heat to their franchise record 15th straight win. a 97-96 knuckle biter over Orlando. The Magic came from 16 down in the third to make things close.

Mark Teixeira out 8-10 weeks as Bronx Bomber injuries mount
The biggest story to this point in spring training is the spate of injuries that has hit the New York Yankees. The latest casualty was first-baseman Mark Teixeira who will miss 8-10 weeks with what is being called a strained wrist. Teixeira injured the wrist hitting balls off a tee and the injury is said to be similar to the same one suffered by Blue Jays power hitter Jose Bautista last year. The Bombers are already without Alex Rodriguez who will be out until at least the All-Star break after hip surgery and Curtis Granderson who broke his forearm getting hit by a pitch in his first at bat of spring training. Granderson is expected to be out until at least late May. With Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera also returning after season-ending surgeries from last year, the Yankees will have to use small ball and pitching to avoid a slow start that will bury them early in the ultra-competitive AL East.
Blackhawks now 21-0-3 after beating Avs 3-2
The amazing run of the Chicago Blackhawks continued on Wednesday with a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche. Chicago trailed 2-1 enetering the third period but got the equalizer on a short-handed goal by Jonathon Toews two minutes in and the winner from Daniel Carcillo with 50 seconds to play. It was the Blackhawks franchise record 11th consecutive win and at 21-0-3, Chicago has completed half the lockout shortened season without a loss in regulation.
