Pacers close on 16-6 run to even series 99-92
The Indiana Pacers will not go down quietly. After getting their hearts torn out on a Lebron James layup at the buzzer in Game I, they came back to get win Game II with a solid all around effort and clutch play down the stretch. After getting their doors blown off in suffering their first home playoff loss of the year in Game III, the resilient Pacers would not be denied in a 99-92 win. All five Indiana starters hit double figures while shooting 50% from the field while holding the Heat to just 38% from the floor. Indiana also dominated on the glass where they held a 49-30 edge. Lebron James led the Heat with 26 points but fouled out on a moving screen with 56 seconds left and the Pacers up four.
The all important Game V will be played Thursday night in South Beach. Miami opened as a 7 1/2 point favorite with the total 185 1/2.
Kings edge Sharks 2-1 to gain Conference Final
They say that a playoff series doesn’t start until the road team wins. Don’t tell that to the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks. The Kings got two early goals and made them stand up as Los Angeles eliminated San Jose in seven games. The home team won all seven games in a series that couldn’t have been more equal. In the end it was Jamie Quick making one more save than Antti Niemi and home ice that was the difference. The Kings advance to the Western Conference finals where they’ll meet the winner of tonight’s Detroit/Chicago Game Seven win or go home eliminator.
MLB News and Notes
Lat night, the Yankees Mariano Rivera blew his first save of 2013. If that were not news enough in itself, it was the first time in the all-time save leader and future first ballot Hall-of-Famer’s 17-year career that he did not record an out. With the Bombers leading 1-0 in the ninth, the first three Mets reached on base hits (aided by a Bret Garner outfield throwing error) to come away with a 2-1 win sending the Yankees to their their third straight defeat. Matt Harvey and Hiroki Kuroda had hooked up in an eight inning pitcher’s duel with Lyle Overbay’s RBI single the only marker before Rivera’s uncharacteristic meltdown. Rain delayed the start of the game 91 minutes and the announced crowd of 31,877 was the smallest ever to see a game in this interleague subway series rivalry.
Keyshawn chases down Biebs Ferrari in a Prius
Keyshawn Johnson was none to happy when he saw Justin Bieber flying around his Calabasas (suburb of L.A.) in his Ferrari. Key was so upset that he ran the Biebs down in his Prius to confront him. Bieber rushed into his house and could not be found. Police received two calls on Bieber for speeding through the neighborhood. One may have been NFL Hall-of-Famer Eric Dickerson. Check out his tweet by clicking here.
Australia implements gaming ad crackdown
In an effort to curb a surge in underage gambling, Australia will no longer allow gaming ads on television during live events and remove gaming ads from stadium signage.
