New England pummels Houston 42-14

Tom Brady threw four touchdown passes, two to Aaron Hernandez, as New England spanked Houston 42-14 at Foxboro. Brady was 21-35 for 296 as the Pats jumped out to a 21-0 lead and cruised to an easy win. New England scored on their first three possessions on drives of 56-82-70 yards. The Pat offensive line was dominant holding probable defensive player of the year JJ Watt to no sacks, no batted down passes and no tackles for a loss for the first time this year. While the side was never in doubt, it took a Ryan Mallett (Brady’s backup) pick deep in his own territory for the Texans to punch in their last score and send the total over. Week 15 of the NFL kicks off Thursday in Philadelphia as the Bengals take on the Eagles. The Bengals open -3 and have been bet to -3.5 with the total dropping from 47 to 45.

Bobby Petrino takes the job at Western Kentucky

In a move that makes plenty of sense for both sides, Bobby Petrino has accepted the head coaching job at Western Kentucky. Petrino will get his fresh start at a low profile Sunbelt school looking to make a name for it’s program and the school gets a name brand coach at an off the damaged goods department type of price. Petrino was fired from Arkansas last summer after trying to cover up a motorcycle accident and a young female staff member with whom he was having an affair. Petrino was 34-17 at Arkansas after a brief 3-10 stint with the Atlanta Falcons. He had previously turned Louisville into a power going 41-9 in four years.

NBA News and Notes

Lebron James had 27 points and DWade added 26 as the Miami Heat shot a blistering 58% from the field in a 101-92 win over the Atlanta Hawks. Al Horford had 20 points and 11 boards for the ATL who saw their win streak snapped at three. Dary Neal tossed in 29 and Tony Parker kicked in a 27-12-12 triple-double as the Spurs beat Houston 134-126 in overtime. Jeremy Lin led Houston with 38 points and 7 dimes. Favorites swept the board on Monday going a perfect 6-0. Tuesday’s NBA features an ESPN double header with the Knicks/Nets early and the Clippers/Bulls late.

There has been a Tracy McGrady sighting in Beijing. If you are an ex-NBA superstar playing off the bench on an 0-8 team in China and down 20 in the fourth quarter, you probably wouldn’t appreciate a finger wag by some punk kid. T-Mac didn’t as you will see in this clip.

Greinke six-year $147 million dollar deal is official

The Dodgers have officially signed Zack Greinke to the richest contract ever given to a right handed pitcher. The six-year $147 million dollar deal is slightly more than the six-year $144 million dollar deal the Phillies gave Cole Hamels and trails only the $161 million dollar deal the Yankees gave CC Sabathia.
