NFL road teams sweep Thanksgiving Thursday

Prior to yesterday, 68% of home teams had covered the spread on Thanksgiving dating back to 2004. Thursday, the homies went 0-3 straight up and 1-2 vs the points with the Lions barely getting the money by the hook. All three game flew over the total.

Texans 34 Lions 31 in OT: Houston was the beneficiary of a disputed touchdown and a gaffe by Lions HC Jim Schwartz to beat Detroit 34-31 in overtime. Justin Forsett scored scored the disputed touchdown on an 81-yard run where it appeared he was down by contact at midfield. Schwartz threw his challenge flag and was immediately nailed with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty as all scores are reviewed from the booth. The play and the explanation of the ruling by former NFL head of officials Mike Pereira is included below. You make the call!

Redskins 38 Cowboys 31: The Redskins won for the first time ever in Dallas on Thannksgiving as RG III returned home with a career high four touchdown passes. Alfred Morris chipped in with 113 yards on the ground and a score. The Redskins led 28-3 at the half. Tony Romo 37-62 for 441 3/2. The Cowboys didn’t attempt a rush in the second half.

Patriots 49 Jets 19: Tom Brady Brady was 18-28 for 323 yards and three touchdowns as the Pats turned five jets turnovers into 35 points. After a scoreless first quarter, the Pats completed a 15-play 86 yard drive with a score on the first play of the second and the rout was on. The Pats scored three times is 52 seconds including two defensive scores.

TCU upsets No. 18 Texas 20-13

TCU took advantage of four Texas turnovers and Mathew Tucker rushed for two touchdowns as the Horned Frogs gained their first signature win since joining the Big 12. Trevone Boykin was an economical 7-9 for 82 yards and rushed for 77 more on just 10 carries. The Longhorns couldn’t overcome terrible quarterback play from both David Ash and Case McCoy. College football resumes with a split card Friday and Saturday that feature many classic rivalry games like Michigan/Ohio State, Florida State/Florida, and Notre Dame at USC.

College Basketball News and Notes

Second-ranked Louisville saw an 18-point lead with 12 minutes left in the game shrink to one before finally subduing Northern Iowa 51-46. The Cardinals led 26-20 at the half despite shooting just 27% from the field but held the Panthers to just one FG over the first 10 minutes of the second half. NIU charged back with a 22-5 run of their own to make it 45-44 with 2:06 to play. Free throws and a Russ Smith three-point play provided the final margin.

Morehead State coach faces disciplinary action for shoving player

Morehead State coach Sean Woods goes off on player, leaving Devon Atkinson in near tears. When Atkinson committed a reach-in foul and fouled out of the game with 5:51 remaining and Morehead State trailing 69-61, Woods walked onto the court to scream at his point guard and then shoved him in the back toward his seat on the bench. Woods then got nose-to-nose with Atkinson until an assistant coach got between them, but that separation didn’t last long because the Morehead State coach again got in the senior’s face once he took a seat on the bench.

Disciplinary action ??? The school is investigating and will make a statement today. Where is Bob Knight or Frank Kush when you need them ??? In SP3s opinion ….. toughen up buttercup.
