Duke, Georgetown and Kentucky are big Saturday winners
Duke, Georgetown and Kentucky were the big winners in an action packed college basketball Saturday. Duke throttles rival North Carolina 69-53 in a game that was nowhere near as close as the final score. Georgetown spanked Syracuse 61-39 in the final regularly scheduled Big East meeting between those two rivals. Kentucky kept its slim Big Dance hope alive with a 61-57 win over Florida. Sunday’s feature matchup is in Ann Arbor where Indiana meets Michigan. The Wolverines are 1 1/2 point favorites and the total is unmoved at 145 1/2.
NBA News and Notes
The Knick’s Amare Stoudamire will miss at least six weeks after having a proceedure called a “knee debridement” on his right knee. He had the same proceedure dome on his left knee earlier in the season. Stoudamire was averaging 14.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in 29 games this season.
Tiger with four-shot lead at Doral
Tiger Woods heads into Sunday’s final round at Doral with a four-shot lead over Graeme McDowell and five better than Phil Mickelson and Steve Stricker. That’s not good news for players who have aspirations of running Tiger down. Woods has a 39-2 record in closing the show with an outright lead after three rounds and he has never lost with more than a two-shot lead in a non-gimmick event.
David Wright grand slam saves US at WBC
The Met’s David Wright hit a fifth-inning grand slam to lead the US to a 6-2 victory in the World Baseball Championships. The U.S. (1-1) meets Canada (1-1) in the final game of Pool D play on Sunday with the winner advancing to the second round.

It’s been a great run but all good things must come to a end. Thank you Steelers Nation I will miss you all!
Baltimore wide receiver Anquan Boldin could be the next “cap” casualty as he has refused to take a pay cut from the Ravens. Last month Boldin said in an interview that he would quit if Baltimore released him and that he would retire a Raven. Now the business side is talking and Boldin is prepared to become an unrestricted free agent and is calling the Raven’s bluff.
