(NCAAF) Navy/San Jose State Over 59 (Friday, November 22, 2013 9:30 PM EST)
Our first inclination was to take San Jose State and lay the the points but it’s difficult to back the Spartans after their last two outings, bad losses to San Diego State and Nevada. In these games, SJSU gave up 72 combined points and an alarming 311 yards rushing to a Wolfpack outfit that mailed it in over a month ago. Still, homie QB Nick Fales is a real deal gunslinger that should do lots of business against a very suspect Middie secondary. Navy has won three of four to get bowl eligible and have rival Army on deck. Navy has struggled on the road at 1-4 allowing 39.3 ppg in their last three highway losses at Notre Dame, Toledo and Duke. These two have played the last two year with San Jose winning 27-24 here two years ago and 12-0 in a monsoon at Annapolis last year. Our thinking is that this game will be much more wide open with Navy having success with the option against a stop unit that is undersized and down from recent editions. By the same token, the hosts should be able to rush the ball against a team allowing 190 overland per and opening up the passing lines for the very good Fales. We’ll call this one 44-38 whoever and go to the window with a ticket on the over.
