(NCAAF) Oregon -14 over Texas (Monday, December 30, 2013 1:00 PM EST)
The Alamo Bowl is the final game for Mack Brown after 16 years at Texas. While you would think that this overmatched squad might circle the wagons for their fallen leader like Florida State did for Bobby Bowden, reports appear to be just the opposite with the staff justifiably updating their resumes and the players just flat pretty much uninterested in playing despite the game being played close to home. We already know what happens at Oregon when the Ducks are disinterested. After seeing their season derailed by their loss to Stanford, the Quack Attack was a no show in getting throttled at Arizona and was life and death to win their rivalry game with a fired up Oregon State game on Thanksgiving. Time seems to heal all wounds and it looks like Oregon will come to play which is bad news for the Longhorns. All the Duck returnees will be held accountable for a bad game here so expect a somewhat sharp effort. This year’s problem in Austin was defense, a stop unit that allowed 30+ points six times and was basically terrible against the run. The Horns gave up a whopping 550 yards overland to a pretty much pedestrian BYU outfit in Game II and while they have improved somewhat, face a real killer here. In the end, Texas just can’t trade points with the Ducks and they don’t have the defense to keep themselves close. Sadly for Mack Brown, this looks like 54-27 Oregon.
