(NCAAF) Tulane -1.5 over UL Lafayette (Saturday, December 21, 2013 9:00 PM EST)
UL Lafayette is the two-time defending champion of the New Orleans Bowl winning 32-30 and 43-34 the last two years. A big part about handicapping this game is the health of Ragin’ Cajun quarterback Terrance Broadway. The junior gunslinger Terrance Broadway who threw for 27 TDs during the year before having surgery on a broken forearm on November 30th. At this writing, Broadway is diubtful but could just wind up playing. In the mean time, ULL will run the ball with their two headed running tandem of Alonzo Harris and Elijah McGuire who combined for 1796 yards and 20 overland touchdowns. Tulane finished an impressive 7-5 despite being the dog in nine of its 11 lined games. Tulane plays their regular season home games on this field and the Wave is 5-1 at home with its lone loss a 41-39 decision to South Alabama. Nick Montana (Joe’s kid) will be under center for Tulane and can hand off to Orleans Dwarka (780 yards, 9 TDs) and throw to Ryan Grant who registered 70 catches and nine touchdowns. The Wave defense is pretty good and extremely opportunistic in creating 33 turnovers. They also have a huge edge at kicker with Cairo Santos who has nailed 42 of his 47 career 3pt kicks. In the end, we just like the more fundamentally sound Green Wave team to dispatch the Sunbelt winner who didn’t cover any of their last five games. Tulane 27-21.
