(NCAAF) Arizona -10.5 over UNLV (Saturday, September 7, 2013 10:05 PM EST)
As a 20+ year resident of Las Vegas and a UNLV alum, there haven’t been many times that I’ve been able to say that a Rebel football team dominated the line of scrimmage and physically manhandled a Big 10 team which is exactly what happened last week at Minnesota. UNLV pushed the Gophers (Minny scored on three “non” offensive TDS) around but eventually imploded with key mistakes and poor special teams in last Thursday’s 51-23 loss. That said, it would appear on face to be an excellent spot for the Rebels. After all, UNLV is 12-5-1 ATS as a home dog under Hauck and would figure to get better here …. right ??? We don’t think so. The Rebels had a great opportunity to win their first road game is 23 starts and gave it away. A what could have been huge confidence builder turned into a “business as usual” loss for UNLV which is now 6-25 in Hauck’s 3+ years. Arizona comes calling after their 35-0 walk through vs. Northern Arizona. Last year’s leading rusher, Ka’Deem Carey starts after serving a one game suspension and this guy is a beast. He’ll get plenty of touches here as the Wildcat receiving corps is dinged and certainly less than 100%. Arizona will be highly motivated to get out the blocks fast here as AU is 1-10 SU and 2-9 ATS in their L11 road openers. UNLV cannot and will not push around Arizona at the Silver Bowl tonight and in fact, expect the Wildcats to run the ball at will which will open up the Cat passing game vs. a very suspect Rebel middle secondary. Sportsbetting3 is calling for Arizona to come away with double-digit TOP edge and an easy 44-17 type of win.
