(NFL) San Francisco -1 over Carolina (Sunday, January 12, 2014 1:00 PM EST)
These two met on November 10th with the Panthers coming away with a 10-9 victory at Candlestick Park. In that game, the 49ers were shut out in the second half and held to an inexplicable 151 yards of total offense. Colin Kaepernick had his worst game as a professional going 11-22 for just 46 (yeah 46) yards. The Niners also lost the following week at New Orleans, no shame there ….. but have reeled off seven straight wins since. A big reason for that and the resurgent San Fran offense was the return of Michael Crabtree who missed the first part of the season recovering from achilles surgery. Last year, he was Kaepernick’s favorite target and even security blanket. The team from the bay is a completely different team in the lineup. Carolina is a home dog to a team that they beat on the road during the year and are off a bye so they’ll feel real disrespected here and come in with a real chip on their shoulder but ….. In the end, we still don’t really trust Cam in his first ever playoff game with the pressure on and facing a defense that was put through the gauntlet last year enroute to their loss in the Super Bowl. Winning is a process and Carolina will have to prove it to us in their first game out of the playoff box.
