(NFL) San Francisco -2.5 over Green Bay (Sunday, January 5, 2014 4:40 PM EST)
This game will be reminiscent of Brett Favre’s last game as a Packer back in 2008. Temperatures are expected to be sub-zero at game time with the wind chill expected to be around -19 at kickoff and dropping lower throughout the game. These teams met in San Francisco in Week I with the 49ers holding the ball 39 minutes and being the beneficiaries of four Green Bay turnovers in a 34-28 win. Colin Kaepernick threw for 404 yards, unquestionably his best performance of the year. He probably won’t half of that here but likely won’t have to if the 49ers big physical offensive line can push the Packers around for the Gore/Hunter tandem. Aaron Rodgers will undoubtedly be sharper here than he was last week in his first game back from a broken collarbone on his non-throwing shoulder. In the end, San Francisco is a much better than field goal team than the Packers. They’re as a healthy as they have been all year and have traveled well all year going 6-1 ATS the spread with suitcase, 5-0 when favored. The elements will limit somewhat what the 49ers can do but a clean slate with no costly giveaways should translate to a double-digit 49er win.
