Saturday MLB ALCS and NLCS Highlights
The Detroit Tigers almost became the first team to to throw a combined no-hitter when Anabel Sanchez and three relievers shut out the Boston Red Sox 1-0 in Game I of the ALCS. Jhonny Peralta had three hits and drove in the lone run of the game for the Tigers. Sanchez struck out 12 but walked six before being lifted after six innings and throwing 116 pitches. BoSox SS Daniel Nava broke up the no-no with a clean single to center in the ninth.
Game II of the NLCS also ended 1-0 as Michael Wacha outdueled Clayton Kershaw and give the St Louis Cardinals a 2-0 series lead over the Dodgers. Things look pretty bleak for the West Coasters who are down two games after throwing Greinke and Kershaw, St Louis hitting just .137 as a team, and having to face Card ace Adam Wainwright
Saturday College Football New and Notes
Two of college football’s top ten went down on Saturday with Utah stopping No.5 Stanford 27-21 and No.25 Missouri taking down injury riddled No.7 Georgia 41-26. SB3 will have the new polls up on the Monday report.

The N0.16 Washington Huskies gave No.2 Oregon all they could handle for a half before the Ducks extending late with two 4Q touchdowns in a 45-24 win.
No.3 Clemson and No.9 Texas A&M both survived scares. The Tigers took their first lead in the fourth quarter in beating Boston College 24-14 whiles the Aggies got a late FG to down Ole Miss 41-38.

(NFL) Jets -1.5 over Pittsburgh (Sunday, October 13, 2013 7:30 PM EST)
It used to be an old betting adage that you just played winless teams coming out of a bye. In some instances that might be valid but not today at the Meadowlands. The Pittsburgh Steelers are a bad bad team and far past a 14-day quick fix. The Steelers have not created a turnover in four games and should they not get a takeaway in this game, would set an NFL record. That is exactly how you beat Geno Smith and the Jets. Get in his grill, create pressure and force the rookie to make mistakes. The Titans laid the blueprint out three weeks ago but at this point, the Men of Steel just don’t have the people to execute that plan. Look for Smith to just sit back and look around and finally find his group of overachievers. A little note on the Jets who may be better than we thought heading into the season. One of the primary metrics used by many numbers bettors around the country is called yards per play. You take the yards per play that a team that generates on offense and subtract the number of yards a team allows per play on defense. No.1 ??? The Broncos ??? Saints ??? Seahawks ??? Chiefs ??? Colts ??? 49ers ??? Nope ….. the J-E-T-S, Jets-Jets-Jets. Jets 24-13
