(NCAAF) Bowling Green -5.5 over Pittsburgh (Thursday, December 26, 2013 6:00 PM EST)
Bowling Green is arguably the hottest team in college football heading into the bowls. The Falcons are the winners of five straight by an aggregate of 45-9 but lost their coach to Wake Forest over the break. This is a team that should be flying high after mauling the previously unbeaten Northern Illinois in the MAC championship game. Pitt is an up and down bunch that probably doesn’t belong in a bowl. They own signature wins over Notre Dame and Duke but were life and death to beat the like of New Mexico and Old Dominion. Tough game to call if you look solely at Bowl history. Bowling Green has lost three Bowls in a row including a 29-20 decision to San Jose State last year. MAC teams are 2-7 ATS in this bowl the last nine years and the dog has covered has covered five of six with all six decided by five points or less. The Panthers play in their sixth straight bowl going 2-3 in their previous five averaging just 13.8 ppg. in those outings. In the end, we think that the BGs are much the better team and deserve the duke despite their coach flying the coop to grab the cash. Sure the Falcons didn’t play the schedule that Pitt did but their talent is arguably the same or slightly better and this is a team hitting on all cylinders. Bowling Green 34-17.
