(NCAAF) Alabama -16.5 over Oklahoma (Thursday, January 2, 2014 5:00 PM EST)
Make no mistake about it, Alabama is going to come to play. Joe public and many of the radio talking heads are making a big deal of the Tide’s Sugar Bowl loss to Utah after getting whacked by Auburn in the Iron Bowl. In 2008, the Crimson Tide got beat by the Cam Newton led Tigers and then laid a 31-17 (-9.5) to the Urban Meyer led Utes. What is never mentioned is that game is the only Tide bowl loss since Saben arrived in Tuscaloosa and that in 2010 Bama waxed Michigan State 49-7 after losing the SEC championship game to the Florida Tebows. There is virtually no case whatsoever for the Sooners who are down from even their most recent non-descript editions. Oklahoma lost their last two bowls by double-digits as a dog and the Tide front seven will be all over the Bell/Knight quarterback tandem like white on rice. A.J. McCarron will likely be flawless in his college swan song and that is not good news for a Sooner defense that will need to create turnovers just to keep this close. Alabama 35-10.
