Accused tree-poisoner Harvey Updyke has rejected a plea deal that would have sent him to prison for 13 years and — maybe more importantly where Updyke is concerned — prohibited him from ever attending another Alabama sporting event. The matter will now go to trial with Updyke facing 42 years in prison.

Kansas State -3.5 over Oklahoma State
It probably hasn’t been much fun in Little Manhattan the past three weeks as the Wildcats have struggled to a 2-3 (1-4 ATS) start to Big 12 play. In KSU’s defense, they didn’t get any favors from the schedule makers starting the year with Kansas, Missouri, Baylor, Oklahoma, and Texas. The Cats next seven games are all very winnable though the conference road is always tough. The Cowboys have just one loss on their home court (Virginia Tech) but the Stillwater wins have come against the Oklahoma and A&Ms. Okie State just 1-3 last four and while granted the losses have come on the road (Iowa State, Texas, Baylor), they were blown out twice including 106-65 at Waco. Throw out the techs and trends here. Better team with suitcase and number is very manageable. Kansas State by ten.

Two very even teams in many respects has SP3 looking at the total rather than the side. The Bulls are sharpshooters when they are on but have struggled in close games and on the road. The Bulls are 5-9 ATS overall but strangely enough they have a 29 point win at Dayton. Bowling Green owns a win over Temple (common opp, Buff lost 87-85) and has played several good teams tought. The Falcons have covered four straight and are 11-3 vs the points for the year so right to the high/low. Both teams can put the ball in the hole. Buff 43-23 over in their L66 including 23-10 high in road games. The BG techs are not quite so gaudy but slight to the high. The series is 11-2 to the over including ALL seven on this court. We’ll see some points here.

Kansas -3.5 over Texas
The Jayhawks and the Longhorns are both young and talented but the visitors are much further along at this point. Kansas is 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in Big Dozen play and the lone non-cover was a nine-point win over Iowa State giving 15. The Rock Chalks are 10-5 the way we keep score and that’s ALWAYS at an inflated price. Texas is 4-9 ATS and the Longhorns were beaten by double-digits vs UNC and Missouri, the only teams they’ve played that are of similar qualities to today’s intruders. Kansas is 3-0 in their true road games this year and won easily here (80-68) last year. No post-Baylor hangover here. Kansas gets out fast and cruises to a wire-to-wire double-digit win.

Duquense +10 over St Louis
We made a lot of money with the Billikens who covered eight of their first ten games and have been virtually automatic at home. They’re just 1-3 in their last four and while non-covers have come at Dayton and Charlotte, they we’re also nicked at home in last by Temple. Here they face a fiesty Duquense team that does it’s best work in this spot. The Dukes are 16-8 as road dogs of 9-12 and are pretty good on both sides of the ball. Despite being blown out in an off shooting night, his team was only given 6.5 points at Xavier indicating that they are serious on the road. Flat out, Duquense is very tough and primary comcern is Dukes struggles at the foul line. They sneak under the ten here.
