Spurs punch ticket to finals with 93-86 win over Grizz
San Antonio got 37 points from Tony Parker Monday to complete its sweep of the Memphis Grizzlies. The Spurs led wire-to-wire, leading 24-14 after a quarter and holding off any run that Memphis would make. Shooting from the floor decided the game. Memphis could manage just 37% from the field as opposed to 51% for the Spurs. Only a Memphis 16-4 edge on the offensive boards kept this from being a complete rout. San Antonio will have ten days off before the NBA finals where they will attempt to win their fifth title of the Pop/Tim Duncan era.

MLB News and Notes
The Memorial Day holiday featured several of the local Interleague “subway series” rivalries.
In New York, the Mets got single runs in the 7th and 8th innings to beat the Yankees 2-1 at Citi Field. David Wright homered for the winners and the Met pen sealed the deal with two shutout innings.
In Los Angeles, the Dodgers came back from 6-1 down to beat the Angels 8-7 snapping the Halos eight-game winning streak. White-hot Adrian Gonzalez went four-for-four and scored four times for the bums.
in Chitown, Jeff Samardzija threw a complete game two-hit shutout as the Cubs shutout the White Sox 7-0. The top three hitters in the Blue Bear lineup went a combined 6-14 with four RBIs and six runs scored.
By the Bay, the A’s beat Madison Bumgarner and the Giants 4-1 behind Dan Strailey. Josh Doladson hit a two-run bomb for the Atletics who also got a two-run double from Yoenis Cespedes.
Neymar transfer to Barcelona is now official
Ask Pele who the best player in the world and he won’t tell you Lionel Messi or Cristiano Renaldo. He’ll tell you Neymar, a 21-year-old Brazilian from Pele’s old home team Santos. Yesterday after much hoopla, Neymar joined Messi at Barcelona after signing a five-year deal with the Catalons that includes a $38 million dollar transfer fee to Santos. Neymar scored 138 goals in 230 games with Santos and will now be paired with Messi as he takes his talents to Europe.
Griner dunks twice but Mercury get pummeled in WNBA opener
The top two picks in last month’s WNBA draft met in their WNBA openers Monday. No.1 pick Brittney Griner won the battle becoming the first woman in WNBA history to dunk twice in a game. No.2 pick Delaware’s Elena Delle Donne won the war pouring in 22 points in the Chicago Sky’s 102-80 road win over Phoenix. Griner, who was saddled with early foul trouble, finished with 17 points and eight rebounds. Both dunks came in fourth quarter garbage time. In the 3600+ game history of the WNBA, there had only been three previous dunks period.
Katin Reinhardt will transfer from UNLV
Over the holiday weekend it was also announced that that UNLV guard Katin Reinhardt would transfer. That despite starting for the Rebels as a true freshman, averaging 29 minutes a game, and given carte blanche to shoot on a nationally ranked team that included a soon-to-be lottery pick and several other more talented options. Reinhardt was not shy jacking up shots despite knocking down just 36% percent of his attempts. According to Reinhardt and his connections, the reason for the transfer was that Reinhardt felt he would better served playing the point rather than as a shooting guard and that UNLV would not guarantee him that option. This is a delusions of grandeur move to be sure and I’m sure I echo the opinion of the majority of Rebel fans ins saying, “don’t let the door hit you in the ass Katin”.
