Spurs/Heat Seven, Blackhawks win 6-5 OT shootout, MLB News and Notes, Aaron Hernandez update, RIP James Gandolfini + Wednesday Recap: Thursday, June 20, 2013

Spurs/Heat for all the marbles tonight in Game VII

The NBA will crown it’s 2012-2013 champion tonight as the Spurs and Heat strap it up one last time in tonight’s Game VII. The Heat are currently -6 point favorites with the total down to 189 from it’s 191 opener. A lot has been made of Miami’s 12-0 (11-1 ATS) run after a loss. They are also 0-8 SU and ATS after their last eight wins. The Heat are 5-7 as home favorites during the playoffs but 12 of their 15 wins are by double-digits. The Spurs are 8-2 ATS on the road. How will the Spurs react to losing Game Six in the final 30 seconds after pretty much having the championship pretty much won.

FYI regarding the Game Six Spur’s meltdown. In the NBA playoffs, there have been 1877 games where a team has led by five points in the final 30 seconds. 1850 or 98.4% of those team went on to win but …… not the Spurs.

Chicago levels series 2-2 with OT win at Boston

Brent Seabrook connected on a slapshot at 9:51 of overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 6-5 win over the Boston Bruins and a 2-2 tie in the Stanley Cup finals. Game IV was a polar opposite of the Bruins defensive minded 2-0 win over the Blackhawks on Monday. Six different Hawks lit the lamp. Patrice Bergeron scored twice in a losing cause for Boston. The teams travel back to Chicago for Saturday’s Game V at the United Center where the Hawks are 50 cent favorites.

Puig continues torrid start

The Dodgers Yasiel Puig continues his torrid start to his MLB career. The Dodger rookie phenom had four hits including a home run in the Bums split of a double-header with the New York Yankees. Puig is now the first player in MLB history to record 27 hits in his first 15 games. Puig is now hitting .474 in 57 at bats with five homers and 11 RBIs from the lead off spot.

Aaron Hernandez not ruled out as a suspect in homicide probe

The tumultuous off-season of the New England Patriots continues to get worse as TE Aaron Hernandez has been allegedly connected to a Massachusetts homicide. Law enforcement is set to execute a second search of Hernandez’s house and also a rent-a-car that ties Hernandez to victim Odin Lloyd who was found shot to death less than a mile from Hernandez’s home. Late breaking stories attributed to Sports Illustrated and TMZ have Hernandez allegedly linked to gang activity and a lawsuit filed in February by a man claiming Hernandez shot him in the face in February.
