Celtics win fourth straight, Lakers survive, Heat roll

No Rondo ….. no problem for the Boston Celtics. A late dagger three-pointer by Paul Pierce helped the Celtics stave off a furious Clipper fourth quarter rally to hold on for a 106-14 win. The Lakers got a much needed road win at Detroit stopping the 98-97 in Motown. Piston players got the money (+2) in an unlikely fashion when Steve Nash (90% LT, 39-41 TY) missed two free throws with 4.9 seconds left. In the “late” game, Miami got it’s 11th straight win over the Toronto Raptors 100-85. Lebron had his usual 30-8-7 for the winners.

Montreal continues fast start in NHL

The Montreal Canadiens jumped out to a 2-1 first period lead over Ottawa and then held on to win in a final scoreless 48 minutes. Hab goalie Carey Price stopped 31 shots and Erik Cole slotted the winner on the backhand at the 11:29 mark. The surprising Canadiens are off to a fast 6-2 start and trail the Boston Bruins by just one point in the Northeast Division.

Lefty goes wire-to-wire in Phoenix

Phil Mickelson put the finishing touches on a win at the Waster Management Phoenix Open with a final round 67 to top Brandt Snedeker by four shots. Aldo over Edgar at UFC 156, Overeem and Rashad Evans upset

At UFC 156 Saturday night in Las Vegas, Jose Also defended his Featherweight title with a close unanimous decision over Frankie Edger. The judges had it 48-47, 48-47, 49-46 for Aldo who got the money as a consensus -200 favorite. The two co-features on the card ended in major upsets as Little Nog won a unanimous decision at +400 and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva survived a two round beating to knock out Alistair Overeem as a 3-1 underdog. Silva’s big performance also earned him an extra 50K for knockout of the night and might put him in line for a rematch with Cain Velasquez for the UFC Heavyweight title.
