The Celtics hit new low with meltdown
While the Lakers somewhat righted their sinking ship on Friday with a blowout win over Utah, the Celtics have hit rick bottom after blowing a 27-point second quarter lead and lose by 12 in double-OT to the Atlanta Hawks. Boston led 29-10 after a quarter but were outscored 31-16 in the third quarter and 16-4 in the second extra five minutes. Kyle Korver led the Hawks with 27. The Celtics lost their sixth straight, their longest losing streak in six years.
Huge slate of college basketball action for Saturday
With Duke, Louisville, and Arizona already losing this week ….. there is certain to be a new No.1 and a major shakeup in the AP and USA Today Top 25. Michigan, Syracuse and Kansas all have tough games this weekend and should probably be on upset alert. Louisville at Georgetown, Oklahoma at Kansas, New Mexico at San Diego State, USC at Arizona and North Carolina at North Carolina State are among Saturday’s feature games.
Football News and Notes
Washington Redskins offensive tackle Trent Williams is out of the Pro Bowl after being involved in a brawl at a Honolulu nightclub that injured three men sending two top the hospital. Williams reportedly received a cut that required seven stitches but Williams is not currently being investigated by either the police or the league.
Tyrann “Honey Badger” Mathieu tweeted Friday that he’ll attend the NFL scouting combine in February. Mathieu, the 2011 Heisman Trophy finalist, was at the Senior Bowl earlier this week attempting to repair his image and convince NFL teams that he has changed his ways. The combine will be held in Indianapolis from Feb. 20-26.
Tiger shoots 7-under 65 to lead Torry Pines after 36
On a rare dreary day in San Diego, Tiger Woods scored the North Course at Torrey Pines with a 7-under 65 and take a two-shot lead at the Farmers Insurance Open. History says that Tiger is a virtually lock to win as he’s won 35 of the 40 tournaments that he’s led after 36 holes. He also owns a 74-0 wins edge agiants the next seven players behind him

Eruzioni jersey expect to top $1 million at auction
The hockey memorabilia collection accumulated by US Miracle on Ice captain Mike Eruzioni is expected to go for well past a million dollars when it is sold at auction on February 23rd, one day after the 33rd anniversary of the historic game. You can read all about the auction here. The auction record for any piece of hockey memorabilia is $1.2 million, set in 2010 for the jersey Paul Henderson wore when he scored the winning goal in the 1972 Summit Series against the Soviets.
