Ryan “The Beast” Riess wins World Series of Poker main event

A 23-year-old 2012 graduate from Michigan State has won the most prestigious prize in poker, the WSOP main even championship. Ryan “The Beast” Reiss beat Las Vegas casino host Jay Farber heads up to win $8.4 million and the coveted championship bracelet. Here is the final hand.

LeBron becomes fifth to score double-figures in 500th straight game

LeBron James scored 35 points to lead the Miami Heat to a 104-95 win over the Toronto Raptors Monday night. It was James 500th straight game scoring in double figures. Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Moses Malone and Kareem Abdul Jabbar (twice) are the only other players to turn the trick.

NFL News and Notes

Wade Phillips has been named the interim coach of the Houston Texans while Gary Kubiak recovers from a mild stroke that occurred at the half of Sunday’s 27-24 Texan loss to the Colts. No timetable has been set for Kubiak’s return.

Aaron Rodgers confirmed on his radio show on Tuesday that he does indeed have a broken collar bone. While the initial thought was that Rodgers will miss the Packer’s next three games, Rodgers will have additional tests after the swelling in the area goes down.

MLB hot stove updates

The Mariners are set to name Lloyd McClendon as their new manager. McClendon has been the hotting coach for the Detroit Tigers since 2007. Prior to joining the coaching staff in Detroit, McClendon managed the Pirates from 2001-05. Pittsburgh went 336-446 (.430) under his watch.

Ryan Lochte tears MCL when jumped on by teenage fan

Five-time Olympic swimming gold medalist Ryan Lochte tore his ACL and sprained his MLC after falling and hitting his knee on a curb after being jumped on by a female teenage fan. Lochte’s reps say that his expected to make a fast and full recovery. Lochte’s next scheduled event is the ‘Duel in the Poll” in Scotland on December 20-21.
