Chiefs stop Eagles 26-16 in Andy Reid’s return to Philly

The Kansas City Chiefs took the blueprint laid out by San Diego last Sunday and added some defense to defeat Philadelphia 26-16 on Monday Night Football. Alex Smith led a mistake free Chief offense and made several key plays to move the chains and hold the ball more than 40 minutes. The defense forced Michael Vick and the Chip Kelly hurry up offense into five turnovers that eventually determined the game. It was a big win for Andy Reid who was fired last year after 14 seasons with the Eagles. Kansas City is now the first team to 3-0. Dog and Under players cashed their tickets after the smoke had cleared.

Donovan McNabb also gets love as the Eagles retire No.5

Donovan McNabb also returned to Philadelphia to have his No.5 retired at halftime. Like Reid, McNabb got polite applause and later loud cheers from the sellout crowd. McNabb is the Eagle’s stat leader in almost every quarterback catagory and took Philadelphia to a Super Bowl and five NFC championship games.

Clemson survives North Carolina State behind Boyd’s three touchdown throws

Tajh Boyd threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns as No.3 Clemson survived an inspired effort by the North Carolina State Wolf Pack. The game was close at 13-7 at the half but Boyd dominated the third quarter. Bettors cringed when Tiger coach Dab Sweeney went for two after Clemson’s final touchdown. The conversion failed setting up NC State’s backdooor cover with three minutes left making Clemson backers losers rather than getting a push.
