Kansas State stops Missouri, Spurs streak done at 11, Match Play Championship starts today

Kansas State completed a series sweep against Missouri with a 78-68 win in Columbia. The Tigers are 0-2 against the Wildcats and 25-1 vs everyone else. Georgetown got throttled 73-55 at Seton Hall as the Pirates shot lights out. Florida used a big second half to wax Auburn 63-47. Ohio State spanked Illinois by 17 in Big Ten action as ranked teams including Kentucky, North Carolina, Michigan and Virginia led the parade of ranked winners. New Mexico joined Georgetown as the only other ranked team to lose falling at Colorado State.

The Spurs saw their 11-game win streak come to an end by getting blown out 137-97 in Portland. San Antonio had also won seven straight on the road. They conclude their epic 8000 mile rodeo road show with a game in Denver on Thursday.
The Cavs beat the Pistons by one, the Pacer won in OT over New Orleans, Miami boatraced the Kings, and the Grizz sent the 76ers to their four straight loss.

On frozen pond, the Penguons blanked the Rangers 2-0 as Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 27 shots for his 22nd career shutout tying him with Tom Barraso for the franchise lead. Jaromir Jagr got the game winner in OT as the Flyers beat the Jets 5-4. Nashville beat Vancouver 3-1 and the Blackhawks stopped the Red Wings 2-1 in key Western Conference games. Columbus handed the Sharks their fourth straight loss. Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Edmonton, Dallas, and Phoenix were all winners on a busy night on the ice.

Three-time winner Tiger Woods heads a star-studded field of 64 in the Accenture Match Play Championship at Dove’s Creek. Sixty-four of the world’s top 68 comepete in a March Mania head-to-head format where it is win or go home. Defending champion and World #1 Luke Donald, Martin Kaymer, Rory McIlroy, and Lee Westwood are the top seeds. Tiger Woods is the five-seed in the Sam Snead bracket and faces Spanish Euro player Satano in his first match. Sergio Garcia, David Toms, and the Scandanavians all have a history of playing well in this format.

(CBB) Drexel -15 over James Madison

Look out for the Drexel Dragons !!! If you are looking for a Cinderella in this year’s March Mania, this could be it. The Dragons have won 15 straight, 21 out of 22, and are off a nice bracketbuster win where they went up to Cleleland State and absolutely kicked the crap out of the Vikings 69-49. These two played two weeks ago with Drexel winning by 17 despote shooting just 30% from the field. The Dollies have lost six of seven with the only win over 1-14 Towson State. It’s not a question of will they but by how much ??? SP3 says 20+.

(CBB) Oklahoma State +4.5 over Oklahoma

We used the Cowboys in Hardwood Bedlam Part I in Stillwater and were rewarded with a pretty routine 72-65 (-2) win back on January 9th. In that game, the Sooners shot just 30% from the field but stayed within shouting distance with 21 offensive boards. That won’t happen tonight as Oklahoma looks to snap a six-game losing streak. Okie State is a fiesty bunch and needs to stay at or above .500 to dance somewhere in March. The Cowboys have covered last five and have a big chance to win straight up here.

(NBA) Detroit +4.5 over Toronto

The Pistons play there 6th game in nine nights while the Raptors haven’t played since the 17th so big edge to the Barney’s with fatigue factor. That said, the Raptors will be without their best player Bargnani who continues to battle calf problems. Toronto is just 1-7 in their L8 and have lost the last three games in the series. The Pistons are playing their best ball of the year. Thye’re 7-3 SU in their L10 and are 10-1 the way we keep score in February. Despite heavy schedule, prefer points with the visitors here.

(NBA) Chicago -12 over Milwaukee

The Buck splay their third game in four nights while the Bulls play their third game in five nights so teams on pretty equal footing here. The Bucks have lost five of six, the Bulls are 8-2 in their L10, 1-4-1 L6 as a home fave thanks to Derrick Rose being out six games. Rose returned Monday against Hawks with no ill effects and figures to have a big game here. The Bulls are a decent 19-14 as a fave, not bad considering that you have to pay 3-5 point favorite on Chicago every game. Chitown is 7-3 SU and ATS L10 in the series and should role here.
