Braun will admit PED use in MVP season
Baseball sources have Ryan Braun “owning” and apologizing for his PED transgressions in 2011, his MVP year. Braun, who has much of the same South Florida pedigree as Alex Rodriguez, is try to distance and separate himself from A-Rod. Braun is expected to address the media some time this week. The winningest manager in Philadelphia Phillies history has been relieved of his duties. Charlie Manuel won his 100th game as a manager Monday in Atlanta. Manuel was offered a job in the organization but will take som time before accepting. He was replaced on an interim basis by Hall-of-Famer Ryne Sandberg. The Phillies were beaten by the Dodgers 4-0 in Sanberg’s debut to fall to 4-20 since the All-Star Break.
Brady fine as Pats beat Bucs
Tom Brady shook off an early week knee scare to complete 11-12 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown in the Patriot’s 25-21 NFLX victory over Tampa Bay. Brady completed his first 11 attempts to start the game including a 26-yarder to Danny Amendola for the game’s first score.
In you think betting preseason football is not a crapshoot, you should have been watching the Buffalo/Minnesota game. Down 20-3 and never in it most of the way, the Vikings scored two garbage time touchdowns in the final quarter to close to within 20-16 and the PAT pending with Minny backers (+3 1/2) holding their collective breath. The Vikes go for two ….. fail ….. and Bills supporters went home happy.
Broncos at Seahawks highlights tonight’s NFLX card
The Broncos and the Seahawks meet tonight in a possible Super Bowl preview. Seattle opened at -3 1/2 and has been bet up to -5. The under opened at 41 and has not changed. The weather is perfect at partly cloudy and 73 at game time. Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson are each expected to play a quarter.
Logano wins pole with record lap at Michigan
Joey Logano posted the ninth fastest lap in Nascar qualifying history to win the pole for Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400. Logano clocked a lap of 203.949 mph Friday in his No. 22 Ford, breaking the 203.241 track record set by Marcos Ambrose last year. Kurt Busch will leave on the outside of Logano while Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin comprise the second row. Johnson is winless in 23 career races at Michigan. Shogun vs Chael highlights UFC Fight Night 26
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Chael Sonnen square off tonight at TD Garden Arena in Boston as the headliner for Fight Night 26, the UFC’s debut on Fox. Rua is a slight -120 favorite in the battle of light heavyweights. Sonnen is -110 on the takeback. In the heavyweight co-feature, Alistair “Demolition Man” Overeem is a -230 favorite over (+180) Travis “Hapa” Browne. SB3 will have complete results on the Sunday report.
