Three rounds are complete at the British Open and Lee Westwood owns a two stroke lead over Tiger Woods and Hunter Mahan. Adam Scott is alone at even par just three shots back. Opening round leader Zach Johnson is at +1 while Phil Mickelson is lurking at +2 just five shots off the pace.

The Boston Red Sox and All Star Dustin Pedroia are reportedly in talks on a $100 million dollar extension. Pedroia is signed through 2014 with an $11 million dollar team option for 2015. The reported six-year $100 mollion dollar extension for the 29-year-old second baseman is supposed to be modeled after a deal signed by Rays 3B Evan Longoria. Pedroia, a four-time All-Star and the 2008 AL MVP, is a career .304/.372/.459 hitter and is solid defensively.
Dodger phenom Yasiel Puig is in the news again. The rookie right fielder is being sued by a man in Cuba for $12 million in damages for false allegations made by Puig that sent the man to prison for seven years. You can read more on this unusual case by clicking here.
Mike Tyson unveils Iron Mike Promotions
Since retiring from boxing in 2005, Mike Tyson has had no significant role in boxing …… until now. Mike Tyson is returning as a promotor and the first boxing card from Iron Mike Productions will take place in Vernon, New York on August 23rd. Tyson is looking for fighters in all weight classes but will make young and upcoming heavyweights a top priority.
Tampa Bay sends Wright to Niners for a pick
The Bucs have sent CB Eric Wrightt to the San Francisco 49ers for a conditional 2014 pick. Wright was a key component in the Tampa Bay secondary before the Bucs acquired Darrelle Revis from the Jets and drafted Jonathon Banks in the second round. Wright made himself expendable by testing positive for Adderall prompting a four-game suspension and then was reportedly arrested last week.
The Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins are the first two teams to report to training camp. The two square of early in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio om August 4th.
For the 90 day period running from April 1st through June 1st, quarterbacks topped the NFL in jersey sales. San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick led the way as top seller followed by Russell Wilson of the Seahawks and Robert Griffin III of the Skins.
Kobe’s gift rings bring big money
Duplicate 2000 Laker championship rings that Kobe Bryant gifted to his mother and father brought $108,000 and $174,000 respectively at an auction that ended early this morning.
