Browns trade Richardson to the Colts for No.1 pick, Andy Reid’s return to Philly, MLB News and Notes, RIP Ken Norton Sr, Birdman’s Teo like adventure, Tour Championship odds + Wednesday Recap: Thursday, September 19, 2013

Cleveland trades former No.3 overall pick Trent Richardson to the Colts

Trades are far and few between in the NFL, especially at the level of yesterday’s Trent Richardson blockbuster. The Cleveland Brown’s dealt the former Alabama star to the Colts for Indy’s No.1 draft pick in 2014. The 0-2 Browns are under new ownership and the move signal the beginning of a complete housecleaning for the franchise. Yesterday, SB3 reported that Cleveland would start 3rd-stringer Brian Hoyer at quarterback over Brandon Weeden. The Colts now have two of top three picks of the 2011 draft having taken quarterback Oliver Luck with the first overall pick.

Eagles -3 as Andy Reid leads Chiefs into Philly

Andy Reid coached the Philadelphia Eagles for 14 years before the two parted ways after last year’s nightmare season. Reid was quick to land on his feet in Kansas City and tonight he’ll lead the unbeaten Chiefs into Lincoln Financial Field to face the Eagles. Philadelphia is a field goal favorite and the total heading north from 49 to 50 1/2. The forecast is for mostly fair weather with a game time temperature of 71.

MLB News and Notes

The Tampa Bay Rays took over sole possession of the top wildcard spot in the American League by virtue of their 4-3 win over Texas in 12 innings. Desmond Jennings got the game winner in the third extra stanza. With the loss, their eighth in nine games, Texas fell into the second wildcard spot behind Tampa Bay.

St Louis extended it’s lead in the crowded NL Central with a 4-3 win over the Colorado Rockies. Adam Wainwright survived a shaky start to pitch into the eighth for the win. He also helped himself at the plate with three hits and a couple of RBIs.

Ex-heavyweight champ Ken Norton dead at 70

Former heavyweight champion Ken Norton passed away in Las Vegas on Wednesday. He was 70. Norton, and ex-Marine, stunned the world by breaking Muhammad Ali’s jaw in their 1973 title fight. Norton had been in poor health the past several years after suffering a number of strokes. Norton fought in the golden age of heavyweights and his close split decision loss to Larry Holmes is generally considered one of the best heavyweight fights of all time. Chris “Birdman” Anderson “victim” of extortion attempt

Miami power forward Chris “Birdman” Anderson was an integral part of the Heat’s championship run last spring. His career had almost come to a screeching end after he was investigated for alleged involvement with underage girls.
