Minnesota takes down Hoosier as another No.1 gets beat
When you are the top-ranked team in the country, you take the floor with a bullseye on your back. Inidiana beacme the latest No.1 to go down in flames when the Hoosiers were beat 77-73 in Minneapolis. Trevor Mbakwe had 21 points and 12 boards for the Golden Gophers who vs a No.1 for the first time since beating Illinois back in 1989. It was Minnesota’s first win over a top-ranked Indiana team since 1953.
Gators also fall on the road
The road woes of the No.8 Florida Gators continued as they were beat 64-58 at Tennessee. Jordna McRae had 27 points for the Vols who improved to 17-10 and could make some noise in the SEC tournament. Tennessee dominated Florida on the glass with a 43-37 edge. Many consider Florida a potential National Champion contender but the Gators will have to play more consistently away from Gainesville if they hope to make it into the second weekend of the Big Dance.
Rutgers coach becomes fourth to 900 wins
Rutgers C. Vivian Stringer became just the fourth woman’s basketball in NCAA history to reach the 900 win milestone. The Lady Scarlet Knights beat South Florida 68-56 Tuesday night to give Stringer the historic win and also snap a four-game losing streak in the process. Stringer is 900-330 in her storied career.
Heat need two overtimes to dispatch pesky Kings
The Sacramento Kings are playing out the string and probably headed for Seattle BUT ….. in the end they are still NBA players that get paid and on Tuesday night, they gave the Miami Heat all they wanted. The Kings scored the final five points of regulation to force a first overtime with the teams tied at 112. Te teams played to a 12-12 draw after the first extra five minutes before Miami found the answer in a 141-129 win. It was Miami’s 12ths straight win and they were led by who else ….. Lebron James with 40 points, 8 rebounds and 16 assists. DWade chipped in with 39 and Ray Allen scored 21 off the bench. Marcus Thornton scored 36 off the bench to lead Sacramento.

NHL considering four division realignment
The NHL is considering realignment which would condense the current six division format to four divisions and add wildcard teams to the playoffs. The new plan calls for divisional playoffs, not conference playoffs as the NHL currently has. The division winner with the most regular-season points will play the lowest-seeded wild-card team in the first round, with the other division winner playing the other wild-card team. If the plan is approved by the NHL Players’ Association and the NHL’s Board of Governors, it would go into effect next year.

This Canadian Pee Wee coach will spend 15 days in jail after being convicted of assault after tripping two kids in the post-game handshake line. Not real smart.
Two from Ronaldo leads Real Madrid over Barcelona in Copa Del Rey
Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals as real Madrid went into Barcelona and beat Lionel Messi and Co 3-1 to advance in the Copa del Rey. The teams played to a 1-1 draw two weeks ago in Madrid and will meet again on Saturday in La Liga action.
