Lebron goes for 39 in 99-90 win over the Lakers
The Miami Heat were able to salvage their six-game road trip with a 99-90 win over the Lakers on the Thursday night TNT late show. Lebron James had a dominating 39-8-9 game line to lead Miami who finished their West Coast swing at 3-3. DWade chipped in with 27 points on his 31st birthday. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 22 points but had just four points at the half and started the game shooting 3-15 from the field.
Michigan rebounds with big win at Minnesota
The Michigan Wolverines rebounded from Sunday’s loss at Ohio State with a big road win at No.9 Minnesota. Trey Burke had 18 points and 9 assists for the winners. Legacies Time Hardaway Jr and Glen Robinson III had 21-5-3 and 9-5-1 respectively. Austin Hollins had 21 points for the Golden Gophers.
Bradley to Seahawks, Arians to the Cardinals
The final two NFL head coaching jobs were filled on Thursday when the Jacksonville Jaguars hired Seahawk defensive coordinator Gus Bradley and the Arizona Cardinals tabbed Colts offensive coordinator as it’s new head coach. Bradley spent the last four years with the Seahawks while Arians served as the interim head man at Indy after HC Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia on September 26th. The Colts went 9-3 under Arians.
Pacino to play Paterno, DePalma to direct
Al Pacino will play Joe Paterno and Brian DePalma will direct the just announced movie tentatively titled “Happy Valley”. Pacino and DePalma had previously teamed up to do Scarface and Carlito’s Way. The film is based on Joe Posnanski’s best-seller Paterno. No release date for the film has been set.
Ryan Leaf kicked out of rehab, off to prison
Some people just don’t get it. After be granted a nine-month treatment program in a rehab as an alternative to a five-year prison sentence, former NFL No1 draft pick Ryan Leaf has f*cked up again. Leaf, who had been found guilty of breaking and entering to steal pain medication, had his rehab stint terminated for threatening staff members and will now do his time in prison. Like we said, some people just don’t get it.
Tiger and Rory both miss the cut at Abu Dhabi
Tiger Woods and Rory McIroy both have the weekend off after not making the cut at the HSBC Championship at Abu Dhabi. Tiger Woods missed the cut after being penalized two strokes for taking an illegal drop. McIlroy is evidently struggling to adjust to his new Nike clubs after back-to-back 75s. Not a good start to 2013 for the two top-ranked golfers in the world.
