Hernandez taken away in cuffs, immediately cut by the Pats

At approximately 8:45 AM EST this morning, New England TE Aaron Hernandez was taken out of his house in handcuffs. About 90 minutes later he was officially cut be the Patriots who will move on without him. Hernandez has been a “person of interest” in the homicide of a known associate and has been one of the top stories in sports the last 10 days. Hernandez, who has been un-cooperative with the police, will be in court and charged later today and Sportsbetting3 will be back with a full report on Thursday.

Cleveland Brown rookie LB arrested for attempted murder

It was another busy day on the NFL police blotter as Cleveland Brown rookie Ausar Walcott was charged with attempted murder after allegedly punching a man in the head early Sunday morning at a New Jersey gentleman’s club. The victim is in critical condition and Walcott is being held on $500,000 bail. You can read about the details in this case by clicking here.

MLB News and Notes

Bryce Harper’s first rehab start was a success with a double, a walk and a run scored with AA Potomac. Harper has been sidelined with what has been reported as knee bursitis and has been seen in a brace.

When Ichiro first came to the United States, he often put on shows of power during batting practice and during impromptu home run derbies. Many in the know have always thought that Ichiro could hit 25 home runs a year if he wanted but was unwilling to give up the .350 batting average he routinely hit. Today, Ichiro is 39, not starting, not hitting .350 but still shows power on occasion. Tuesday, Ichiro’s ninth inning two-out walk off home run gave the New York Yankees a 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers.

Ducks get probation, Kelly gets 18-month show of cause

The Oregon Ducks got a relative slap on the wrist for recruiting violations under former coach Chip Kelly. Oregon got three years probation and the loss of a scholarship but received no Bowl ban. Oregon went 46-7 under Kelly who bolted to the Philadelphia Eagles last year. Kelly also received an 18-month show-cause order which would require schools wishing to hire him to appear before the infractions committee to determine if the school should be subject to the show-cause procedures. Yanks not feeling A-Rod tweets

Alex Rodriguez and Yankee GM Brian Cashman are at going it over A-Rod’s release of injury information on twitter. Rodriguez had tweeted that he’d been medically cleared to resume a minor-league rehab assignment. When asked about it, Cashman responded with …..

“You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will]. Alex should just shut the f— up. That’s it. I’m going to call Alex now.”

UCLA blanks Miss State 8-0 to sweep College World Series

UCLA won it’s first national title in baseball and it’s 108th national title overall when the Bruins shut out Mississippi State 8-0 Tuesday to sweep the College World Series 2-0. UCLA was dominant in winning all five CWS games by a 19-4 aggregate.

Injuries Darcis and Azarenka out of Wimbledon

A record seven players bowed out of Wimbledon on Wednesday due to some type of injury related problem. Among the players that either withdrew or retired mid-match were Joe Willie Tsonga (knee), second-seeded Victoria Azarenka (knee), and Steve Darcis (shoulder). Darcis was a straight set winner over Rafael Nadal on Monday.
