Rousey defends UFC women’s title

MMA history was made Saturday night in Anaheim with the first women’s fight in UFC history. “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey defended her 135 title with a late first round submission of Liz Carmouche via what else ??? ….. an armbar. Rousey has won all seven of her MMA matches with that pateneted move, all seven have come in the first round. Rousey didn’t just walk right through Carmouche as expected. The ex-marine managed to get Rousey’s back and sink in a standing rear-naked choke that almost produced the upset. Rousey barely escaped and then went to work. SB3 will have a recap with full results, highlights, the post-fight presser and the bonuses on the Monday report.

Eruzione’s “Miracle on Ice” jersey sells for $657,250

Friday marked the 33rd anniversary of the Lake Placid ‘Miracle on Ice” where a bunch of US college kids went out and took down the heavily favored Russians 4-3 in the Olympic semi-finals before going on to win gold. Saturday ….. Mike Eruzione, the US captain and the man that scored the winning goal against the Soviets, sold his ‘Miracle” memorabilia. His jersey brought $657,250, well below the $1 million dollar estimate but the stick with which he scored the winning goal brought $262,000 ….. well above the $100,000 estimate. Hopefully this priceless stuff will find its way to a good home where all sports fans can enjoy it.
