Pivotal Pacers/Heat Game V goes tonight
The Miami Heat are -7.5 point favorites in tonight’s critical Game Five of the NBA Eastern Conference finals. The high/low is up half a tick to 186. The series at tied at two games apiece. needless to say that this is the keystone game in the series. In NBA series that are tied 2-2 after four games, the winner of Game Five advances in the series 83% (54-11 current run) of the time. Miami lost this game to Boston last year but was one of the few teams to come back to win the series and eventually go on to win the NBA championship.
Chicago completes comeback with 2-1 OT win over Detroit
Brent Seabrook’s wrist shot at 3:35 of overtime gave the Chicago Blackhawks a 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings and a ticket to the NHL Western Conference finals vs Los Angeles. Chicago completed an improbable comeback that saw the Blackhawks come back from a 3-1 deficit for the first time (0-11) in franchise history. The Frozen Pond final four is now set with the Penguins, Bruins, Kings and Blackhawks ….. the first time since 1945 that the final four is comprised of the last four cup winners.

Angel ace Jered Weaver was rock solid pitching six innings of one-run ball in his first start since April 7th in the Halos 4-3 win over the Dodgers. Weaver came off the DL after sustaining a fracture to the elbow on his non-pitching arm after getting hit by a line drive in Texas. Weaver’s return couldn’t have come at a better time as the Angels have won nine of ten to climb to within five games of .500 mark.
Gronk will have back surgery
The surgery odyssey of New England Patriot All-Pro TE Rob Gronkowski continues. Gronk will have surgery on a re-occuring disc problem that has caused him chronic back and hip pain. Gronk missed his senior year at Arizona in 2009 with a similar problem with a similar disc problem in the same area. Gronk could be ready to play in August with no setbacks.
Mayweather vs Alvarez set for September 14th
The first boxing “Super Fight” in several years was confirmed last night with Floyd Mayweather set to take on Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in a battle of unbeatens. The fight will be at a catch weight of 152 but both fighters will have their respective welterweight titles on the line. Congratulations to Money May for stepping up to the plate against a fighter that is 44-0 and 13 years his junior. The Las Vegas Hilton has opened Pretty Boy Floyd as a -250 favorite. Belgium whacks US 4-2 in soccer friendly
Belgium brought it’s A team for last night’s friendly with the US and it showed in a 4-2 win. The Euros dominated all 90 minutes and exposed just how shaky the inexperienced American back line really is by virtually scoring at will. Belgium’s superior soccer rating cannot be understated. Ten of the Belgium starters play in the English Premiership and that quality was evident throughout the match. The Belgians are currently ranked No.15 in the FIFA world rankings and are considered a rising power in Europe.
