Georgia survies LSU 44-41

The No.9 Georgia Bulldogs got a 25-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Murray to Justin Scott-Wesley with a 1:47 left to beat No.6 LSU 44-41 at Athens. The 3-1 Bulldogs became the first team in NCAA history to face three top ten teams in the first four games, beating South Carolina and LSU after losing their opener at Clemson. Murray finished with 298 yards and four scores for the Bulldogs. Zach Mettenberger threw for 372 yards and three touchdowns in a losing cause for the Bayou Bengals.

Pats/Falcons Sunday nighter and London highlights Week 4 NFL

The desperate 1-2 Atlanta Falcons have their backs against the wall tonight as they host the 3-0 New England Patriots on NBC. Atlanta is a three point favorite with the total up a half tick to 51. The Patriot’s all-pro tight end Rob Gronkowski has been ruled out for the game. Gronk has practiced with the team but is yet to participate in contact drills. The Falcons are 52-7 straight up at home with Matt Ryan at the controls. The Dirty Birds are 23-12-1 when the line is three or less under Mike Smith but are 0-2 in that role this year. Atlanta is also 21-3 ATS in their L24 games after a straight up loss.

MLB’s final day of the regular season

The playoff teams have been decided. All that needs to be decided is positioning in the American League wild card. The Cleveland Indians have virtually locked up the top wild card spot Saturday after beating Minnesota 5-1 for their ninth straight win. They lead Tampa Bay by a game and Texas by two. The Tribe will host the one-game sudden death game with a win today. Tampa Bay can lock up the final wild card spot with a win at Toronto. The Texas Rangers need a lot of help.

Major League Baseball has announced the start times for potential tiebreaker games as well as the two wild-card games. Here’s the info, from the press release:

•Monday: 4:07pm ET (three-way tie) or 8:07pm ET (two-team tie)
•Tuesday: 4:07pm ET (three-way tie), 8:07pm ET (NL wild-card game on TBS)
•Wednesday: 8:07pm ET (AL wild-card game on TBS)

The Indians currently own the first AL wild-card spot and are one game up on both the Rays and Rangers. MLB announced the three-team tiebreaker sequence on Friday.

Andy Pettitte won the final start of his career with a 2-1 complete game victory over the Houston Astros. It was the 256th win of Pettitte’s career and his first complete game in seven years. The win also even Pettitte’s 2013 record to 11-11 assuring that he would not have a losing season in his 18-year career.

Junior has the pole at Dover

The third leg of The Chase goes tonight at Dover with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the pole after a record setting lap in qualifying. Matt Kenseth, Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards, Aric Almirola and Brad keselowski round out the first three rows.
Kenseth and Kyle Busch are 1-2 in The Chase standings after finishing 1-2 in the first two legs of The Chase in Chicago and New Hampshire.
