With ten days and five to six games per team left in the NHL regular season, almost every game from here on out has playoff implications. Parcells to coach the Saints ???

Sean Payton has been in discussions with Bill Parcells about becoming the interim coach of the Saints in 2012. Parcells mentored Payton during their time together in Dallas and both men have the same agent. Several things will facor into the decision including the NFL’s view on this being viewed as a way to circumvent Payton’s decsion. Roger Goddell has already said that Payton WILL NOT coach from home. Accepting the job will also set 70-year-old Parcells back five years on the Hall of Fame clock, something that The Big Tuna may not want to do at this point in his life.

Tebow is excited to be a Jet

The signing of a backup quarterback is generally not worthy of a news conference but …. this is Tim Tebow and this is the New York Jets so 40 cameras and 150 reporters were at Tebow’s Gang Green “player made available” presser at the Jets training facility in New Jersey. Tebow is “excited” to be a Jet and said so 46 times in the 35 minute news conference. Tebow said all the right things at the innocuous circus sideshow. Mark Sanchez chimed in later welcoming Tebow and saying that he’s the man and feels no pressure.

Tiger Woods odds to win the Masters were 15-1 prior to his win this week at Bay Hill. Woods is now 3-1 or 4-1 offshore and on The Strip to win his sixth Green Jacket. The US under-23 soccer team was eliminated from the Olympics in London. A terribly soft goal of the US goalies hands in stoppage time sealed the Americans fate in a 3-3 tie with El Salvador. The US finished third in the group and will miss the Olympics for the second time in three years. Frank Martin will move on from Kansas State to South Carolina for about $2.5 million a year. This is a great get for the Gamecocks and crushing loss for the Wildcats.
