Lebron picks up 20,000th point and 5000th assist in Heat win

Lebron James hit two milestones Wednesday in the Heat’s 92-75 win at Golden State. Firstly, he bacame the youngest player ever to rack up 20,000 points and he also picked up his 5000th career assist. King James had 25-7-10 in the rout. Miami led 80-50 after three quarters. Dadid Lee and Carl Landry both had double-doubles in defeat for Golden State.

UNLV clutch late at San Diego State

UNLV shot 52% from the floor in the game and took advantage of two put-back baskets in the final minute to beat No.15 San Diego State 82-75 on Wednesday night. The Rebels showed uncharacteristic determination and grit down the stretch to secure the win, attributes they didn’t show last week in a loss at New Mexico and an overtime home win against Air Force. Anthony Marshall had 20-8-5 for the winners. Jamal Franlin had 27 points in defeat for SDSU.

Kelly does an about face and takes the Eagles job

Just days after saying that he would stay at Oregon, Chip Kelly has been announced as the 21st head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. The signing has left cynics wondering if this was a “get out of Dodge” deal similar to Pete Carroll as the NCAA is still in an ongoing investigation of the Oregon football program. Time will tell.

This just in, Jags hire Seahawk DC Gus Bradley

Just posted within the half hour, the Jacksonville Jaguars have hired Seahawk DC Gus Bradley as their new head coach. Bradley, currently the Seahawks defensive coordinator, became a hot name this offseason by leading Seattle’s defense to the No. 1 NFL ranking in points allowed this season (15.3) and to the No. 4 ranking in yards allowed (306.2) as the Seahawks surprisingly made it to the divisional playoff round. Te’o Manti had no dead girlfriend, scrambling for explanation

The feel good story of the 2012 college football season has turned out to be a hoax. Manti Te’o didn’t lose his girlfriend to cancer or injuries sustained from an April car accident. In fact, she didn’t exist at all. The story blew up late afternoon on Wednesday and was the buzz all night on all social media outlets and sports talk radio. A-Rod finally has hip surgery, out until July

Alex Rodriguez has undergone successful surgery on his left hip and is expected to be released by the hospital today. His recovery time is expected to be about six months which would have him back in the Bomber lineup in mid-July. Rodriguez, 37, is coming off a season in which he batted .272/.353/.430 with 18 home runs in 122 games. He’s fifth on the all-time home runs list with 647. Obligatory: A-Rod still has five years and at least $116 million left on his contract. Kevin Youklis will play third-base in the interim.

Lance Armstrong is stripped of Olympic bronze

The International Olympic Committee has striped Lance Armstrong of the bronze medal that he won at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. IOC officials have said anonymously (the IOC has not made an official statement) that Armstrong was informed by letter of the action and has been asked to return the medal. Armstong’s supposed come clean tell-all interview with Oprah airs tonight.
