MLB will send expanded replay to owners

With the abundance of blown calls running rampant in the MLB, baseball will look to expand instant replay by giving managers three game challenges. Like the NHL, replays will be adjudicated at the MLB main offices rather than by the umpires. The new rule must be approved by 75% of the owners in a vote in November. MLB News and Notes

Tampa Bay’s Alex Cobb pitched five innings to get the win in the Ray’s 7-1 win over Seattle. It was Cobb’s first start since getting hit in the head with a line drive back on June 15th.

The Reds won their fifth straight game as Tony Cingrani outdueled Kyle Lohse in Cincinnati’s 2-1 win at Milwaukee. Joey Votto’s homer in the sixth was the difference.

Did A-Rod’s people out Braun and Yankee teammate ???

60 Minutes is reporting that A-Rod’s inner circle purposely implicated other players in the Biogenesis PED investigation. A-Rod’s lawyers strongly deny the allegations. One of the people allegedly implicated was Yankee backup catcher Francisco Cervelli. It should be interesting in the Bomber lockerroom tonight.

Eagles top Carolina behind Vick

Mike Vick was 9-10 for 102 yards and a pick in leading the Philadelphia to two first half scores as the Eagles beat Carolina 14-9. Cam Newton was 8-17 for 112 yards for the Panthers. Favorite and Under players cashed their tickets. Cleveland spanked Detroit 24-6. Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell combined on 20-26 for 223 and three touchdowns. Favorite and Under once again got you to the pay window. In the finale, Chicago beat San Diego 33-28 in a turnover-fest. The Bears led 20-0 at one point before San Diego made a late run. The Dog and Over got the money.

49ers at Chiefs highlight Friday NFLX card

The San Francisco 49ers travel to Arrowhead Stadium tonight to face the Kansas City Chiefs and Alex Smith. Kansas City is a 1.5 point favorite with the total set on 40. Jamaal Charles id doubtful for the Chiefs. Alex Smith spent the first eight years of his career with the 49ers before coming over to K.C. in a trade after the Super Bowl. Weather will be near perfect …. partly cloudy with a game time temperature expected at around 77.

In other NFLX game tonight, Minnesota travels to Buffalo to face the Bills. The homies are -3 with the total locked at 43. Adrian Peterson is not expected to play. Weather will not be a factor at partly cloudy and 73 at kickoff. Tampa Bay and New England square off at Foxboro with the Pats -3 and the high/low sitting at 41. Tom Brady is probable and weather will be perfect with the game time temp expected to be near 70. The New Orleans Saints are six-point home faves at The Superdome over the Raiders with the over/under up from the 40.5 opener to 43.

Oscar Pistorius to face additional charges

South African Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius will face two additional weapons charges separate from the murder charges he faces for the Valentine’s Day killing of his girlfriend. Known as “The Bladerunner” because of the prosthetics he wears on his feet, Pistorius will also be charged with firing a weapon in public, once out of a car sunroof and once for firing a gun in a restaurant.

One-armed shooting guard gets walk-on offer at Florida

A high school shooting guard born without the lower half of his left arm, has been offered a preferred walk-on spot by Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators.
