Geno 3 Ints, Sanchez hurt, Jets win in OT
The circus that is the New York Jets just got a bit wilder after Saturday night’s 24-21 overtime win over the New York Giants. Geno Smith threw threw interceptions showing he is far from ready for prime time. Mark Sanchez, who was not expected to play, was hurt playing a few plays playing behind the second and third string offensive line and Rex Ryan came unglued at the post game news conference. Still in all, the Flyboys came away with a 24-21 win against their crosstown rivals. It’s going to be a crazy week in New York this week n doubt.
Vikes/49ers highlight tonight’s NFLX action
The Minnesota Vikings travel to San Francisco in tonight’s Sunday night football game on NBC. The 49ers opened up as -5 point favorites but that has been bet down to -3 at this writing. The total has dropped from 41 to 39 and might be headed further South by game time. It’s perfect football weather by the Bay with light winds and a game time temperature expected to around 71.
Scherzer wins 19th as Tigers blank Mets and Harvey
Max Scherzer wasn’t as sharp as he’s been most of the year but he was still good enough to blank the Mets for six innings in Saturday’s 3-0 Tigers win. Scherzer threw 118 pitches striking out 11 and walking four while limiting the Mets to just three hits. New York rookie sensation Matt Harvey took the loss allowing two earned in 6 2/3 while getting no run support.
Kenseth locks up spot in the Chase with win
Matt Kenseth battled Kasey Kahne through the finals lapse at Bristol to win his fifth race of the year and lock up at least a wildcard spot in The Chase. Kahne finished second with Juan Pablo Montoya, Brian Vickers and Joey Logano rounding out the top five. There are just two races left before The Chase, Nascar’s post season. Kuchar and Woodland lead Barclays, Tiger four back
Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland are tied for the lead at 12-under after three rounds of The Barclays in Jersey City, New Jersey. The Barclays is the first of four legs of Fed Ex Cup. Kevin Chappell is a shot back after a third round 62. Tiger Woods is T-4 lurking at four shots back.
Curry Bros reunited as Golden State signs Seth
The Golden State Warriors have brought together Stephen and Seth Curry after signing Seth to a non-guaranteed NBA contract. The younger Curry played this year at Duke and shot 47% from the field including 44% from behind the arc but went undrafted.
