Kings dump Blackhawks 3-1 to hold serve
After losing the first two games of the Western Conference finals in Chicago, the Kings were happy to get back to the Staples center where they are 7-0 in the playoffs and have won 14 straight overall. The defending Stanley Cup champs held serve with a 3-1 win over the Blackhawks and now trail the series 2-1. The old cliche is that a series hasn’t begun until the road team wins. There is a very real possibility that the road team might not break through here. The Kings are 8-0 at home and 1-7 on the road this year and come off a 4-3 series win over the Sharks taking all four games. The Kings do not have home ice here.
Puig homers twice in second game, the next Harper/Trout ???
Dodger phenom Yasiel Puig became the first Dodger ever to homer twice in one of his first two games in the Bums 9-7 win over the San Diego Padres. Puig impressed with a couple of hits and threw a baserunner out from the outfield in his Monday debut. Last night he was three four four with two homers and five RBIs. If the 22-year-old Cuban continues to play like this, he will be impossible to get out of the lineup.
Kobe hopes to be ready for opener, no Rio
In an interview with ESPN Los Angeles, Kobe Bryant said that the rehab on his surgically repaired achilles tendon was on schedule and that he hoped to ready for the Lakers season opener. Kobe also said that it was unlikely that Coach K could convince him to play in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. With DWade also unlikely to play and Lebron wavering serious on participating, we could be looking at a changing of the guard and a much younger and newer US National Men’s basketball team.
Did the Hawks tamper in pursuing CP3 and Dwight ???
The Atlanta Hawks may be guilty of violating the NBA’s tampering policy by naming Chris Paul and Dwight Howard in letter to potential season ticket buyers. The letter, written on Atlanta Hawks letterhead by a lower level team rep, basically says that player interest in the Hawks was skyrocketing and names Paul and Howard in the text. Team are not allowed to comment on potential free agent interest until July 1st. Get the whole skinny and read the text of the letter by clicking here.
Jason Garrett will coach, Callahan will call the plays for the Cowboys
Dallas Cowboy offensive coordinator Bill Callahan will be calling the plays for the Dallas Cowboys next year. Garrett ran the offense as the head coach the last two years, the Cowboys finished 15th in the league in scoring (though sixth in yards gained in 2012 and 11th in 2011). So the team is having a tougher time scoring points than it is racking up yards. Which is probably why Jerry Jones wants to see what Callahan can accomplish, even if it appears to weaken his head coach.
