San Jose got two goals from Martin Havlat including the winner at 3:34 to propel the Sharks over St Louis. Patrick Berglund had both markers for the Blues. Antti Niemi kicked out 38 of 40 shots for San Jose.
The Devils and Panthers are the last two teams to open their first-round series when they meet in South Beach on Friday. The Devils are -170 favorites in the series, -120 in Game I. Bulls down Heat in OT, Spurs survive Grizz
The Chicago Bulls but a virtual stranglehold on the top seed and home court through the Eastern Conference playoffs after a 96-86 overtime win over the Miami Heat. The Bulls now have a four game lead over the Heat with seven game left to be played. Miami has an additional two games in hand. Carlos Boozer led five Bulls in double figures with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Lebron, Wade, and Bosh combined for 71 of Miami’s 86 points.
The Spurs snapped a two-game skid with a 107-97 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. San Antonio closed the game on a 14-4 run. The Clippers continued their roll with a 95-82 win at Minnesota. LA won the second half 48-34 over th Kevin Love-less . Detroit used a 40-22 third quarter to blow out Charlotte 109-85 sending the Bobcats to their 14th straight loss. Greg Monroe had 25 points and 11 rebounds for Motown. Brandon Knight chipped in with 21 points and 7 assists.
Garza shuts out Brewers, Tigers back on winning track
In a Thursday getaway day matinee, Matt Garza came one out from a complete game three-hit shutout as the Cubs spanked Zack Greinke and the Brewers 8-0. Detroit got back on track with a 7-2 spanking of the Rays. Brennan Boesch had four RBIs for the Tigers. Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau both homered as the Twins won a 10-9 slugfest with the Angels. Albert Pujols is now just 4-18 in his first five games for the Halos. Joe Blanton was brilliant for seven innings in the Phils 3-1 win over the Marlins.
Chad Campbell, Vaughn Taylor, and Colt Knost all shot first-round four-under-par 67s to share the lead at the RBC Heritage Open at Hilton Head. Jim Furyk heads a group of four golfers one shot back. Fourty-two of the 131 golfers in the field shot par or better.
The world’s top ranked tennis players, Novak Djokavic and Rafeal Nadal, will play a July 14th charity match in Madrid that they hope will draw 80,000 to the Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu soccer stadium. The proceeds will go to Real’s and Nadal’s charity foundations. Djokavic has beaten Nadal seven straight time including the finals of the last three Grand Slam tournaments.

Majerus has over 500 careers wins with coaching stops at Marquette, Ball State, Utah, and St Louis. Michigan State Spartan center Derrick Nix pled guilty to a reduced charge of driving impaired an has been reinstated by the team. Nix had been suspended by the team after being arrested for possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle while possessing drugs. Nixs averaged 8.1 ppg and 3.8 rpg last year for the Spartans.
