Evansville +7 over Illinois State

This is a great spot to take points with the fast improving Purple Aces who are 3-1 in their last four (one-point loss to Wichita) and have covered four straight games. They won thier last roadie at a very tought Northern Iowa and have played a top notch (North Carolina, Indiana) schedule. The Red Birds are 10-4 vs lesser but seemingly doing it with smoke and mirrors. Two back, State lost at awful Southern Illinois but won at Missouri State in last. Perfect series MO here. Illinois State is 11-4 L15 in the series but Evansville is 9-3 ATS, the way we keep score. Take Evansville.

Boston College and North Carolina Under 148.5

This one looks like a bunny that hopefully won’t blow up in our face. This year’s edition of the Boston College Eagles may be the worst team to ever put on a uniform in ACC play. You just don’t see teams laying 31 in college basketball. In this case it may well be justified. BC is 5-9 with wins over Sacred Heart, Stoneybrook, Bryant, Riverside, and New Hampshire. These teams played a 48-46 game last year but that won’t happen here. The Eagles will take the air out the ball and hang around as long as possible before the inevitable hammer falls. UNC gets not pleasure crushing this kins and ther will be plenty of garbage time for the kids. Expect UNC to play starters 15-20 minutes with bigger fish the fry coming up. That said, if BC gets 50 which will be an undertaking, we need UNC at 99 to beat us. Lets call this 85-53 and go home with cash in our pockets.

Virginia -7 over Miami Fla

This is an excellent spot for Virginia who as won 11 straight games and holding 10 of those opponents to 60 or less points. This is a double-revenge game for the Cavs who lost at South Beach and in the ACC Tourney to Miami last year. The homies have handled the Canes on their home floor however winning the last three here by 18-11-20 points. Miami has struggled on the road (1-3 win at Charlotte) and against top 40 ranked teams going 0-3. UVa is without question one of the better defensive teams in the country and seven is a very doable number. Take Virginia.

Memphis -4.5 over UAB

It’s kind of ironic that these two teams meet tonight after Gene Bartow died during the week. Bartow coached the 1973 Memphis team that went to the NCAA final and built the UAB program from scratch in his later years. The Blazers have lost nine straight in the series and are 1-6 vs the top 100 with the only win coming vs Middle Tennessee State. Memphis is so young but so good. This team is a year away from joining the elites like Kentucky and Syracuse. They’ve played the #13 toughest schedule which should help them run roughshod through CUSA opposition. The Tigers have eon three straight allowing just 52 ppg so they may just be hitting their stride. Memphis by 20.
